The Private Bank UK International supports High Net Worth (HNW), Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) and Family Office banking, investment and credit needs through dedicated Private Bankers and teams of investment and wealth specialists. Private Bank UK International offers clients private banking services and caters to their bespoke private banking needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • New Business Origination - The role holder will identify, develop and secure new private banking relationships through personal and client referrals, Barclays Group internal networks and corporate and investment banking sources. This will involve presenting to clients as a representative of the bank and as an investment professional to a variety of audiences. The role holder will achieve stretching personal and team targets for new clients, new assets and strong revenues. The role holder will make a significant contribution to referring relevant business to other parts of PBWM and/or the Barclays Group.
  • Investment Advice and Financial Solutions -The role holder will be highly competent and provide innovative and world class financial solutions to meet client needs, including:
    • Investment Management: Offer a range of services depending on client demands, including modelled, bespoke, discretionary and advisory portfolios. Work closely with the Investment Advisors to provide a holistic service to clients.
    • Balance Sheet: Offer Banking, Credit and FX products to support a wide range of clients borrowing needs including finance for property and luxury purchases.
    • Wealth Advisory: Provide fiduciary solutions, wealth planning and structuring services plus trust and estate planning.
    • Alternative Investments: Offer clients exposure to hedge funds, private equity, commodities and real estate.
    • Corporate & Investment Banking: Enable clients to access products and services traditionally available only to institutional clients, through the Key Clients Team.
    • We expect individuals at this level to be fully engaged with proposition development and able to coordinate subject matter experts from across the bank to negotiate and deliver complex solutions to clients.
  • Working as directed to achieve personal objectivesand assist in achieving team targets for:
  • new client acquisition
  • net new asset acquisition
  • net new credit acquisition
  • net new investment acquisition
  • revenues
  • Governance and Control - The role holder will ensure conformity with global and market standards of client service, regulatory compliance, front-office procedures, KYC, product delivery and operating model and be able to deliver to any identified accountabilities as recorded in the annual Performance Development System.
  • Key clients (internal and external) - The role holder will always maintain the highest levels of service and delivery to existing clients and be the key contact for all investment advice and client queries. The role holder will act as key interface between clients and other parts of PBWM and the wider Barclays Group.

Role requirements

  • The successful candidate will ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards.
  • This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & FCA - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • The right candidate will have very strong relationship skills with experience of managing and handling the sophisticated needs of individuals and families
  • The successful candidate will have experience of building a substantial client base using internal and external networks, be effective in gaining an in-depth understanding of client’s needs and advising on a diverse range of wealth management solutions with high penetration ratios per client.
  • The right candidate will have experience of operating in a complex investment environment and will satisfy the criteria for an approved person (where applicable) both initially and ongoing. The ideal candidate will have broad experience of the Financial Services industry and skilled in differentiating advice according to the complexity of the client’s requirements. The right candidate will have detailed regulatory knowledge, of local regulatory requirements, and an overall understanding of the business impact of the regulatory environment. The successful candidate will have excellent market exposure and multi-disciplined private banking expertise.
  • The successful candidate will have significant external market presence and influence and be recognized as a subject matter expert in the Turkish market

Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs.
  • Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
  • Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses.
  • Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.

  • To manage a business function, providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide..

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
