Key Accountabilities:
- Lead a global Treasury Market Risk team, overseeing market risks across trading and banking book Treasury Funding and Investment activities.
- Set and maintain the Treasury Market Risk framework, including responsibility for updating relevant risk policies and standards, setting risk appetite and limits, and ensuring compliance with Group policies.
- Provide independent oversight and effective challenge to Front Office on market risk exposures, ensuring risks are transparent, well understood, and appropriately controlled.
- Act as a senior risk partner to key stakeholders, engaging with Treasury, Risk, Finance, Audit, and Regulators, and delivering clear insights on emerging risks and material exposures.
- Oversee market risk reporting and analytics, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of risk metrics (e.g. sensitivities, VaR, stress testing, backtesting) for management decision‑making and regulatory submissions.
- Build and lead a high‑performing team, setting strategic direction, promoting a strong risk and controls culture, and driving capability development and cross‑risk collaboration.
Key Candidate Requirements:
- Prior experience as a market risk professional, ideally with a large investment bank
- Strong knowledge of Rates, FX, inflation and credit products including their pricing and their use in market risk management.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage global teams.
- Strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to collaborate with wide range of stakeholders on time sensitive projects.
- Good understanding of mechanisms for quantifying and hedging direct and indirect traded and non-traded market risks.
Purpose of the role
To safeguard the bank's financial stability by managing interest rate risk in the banking book, primarily associated with Asset Liability management risk activities including Treasury funding and investment positions in the banking book.
Accountabilities
- Analysis of the bank's asset and liability profile, including maturity mismatches, interest rate sensitivity, and cash flow projections.
- Development and implementation of investment risk and asset liability risk management frameworks and policies in line with regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks.
- Monitoring and reporting on key Asset liability risk management metrics, such as net interest income sensitivity, economic value of equity sensitivity and duration gap.
- Identification, assessment, and monitoring of risks associated with the bank's investment portfolio, including market risk (interest rate, equity, FX), credit risk, and operational risk.
- Performance of stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the impact of potential macro economic scenarios on the Banking book portfolio.

- Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
- Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
- Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
- Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
- Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
- Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
- Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
- Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
- Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
