Barclays is seeking a Data Loss Prevention Lead with deep data loss prevention expertise and a strong understanding of the operational value of enterprise data. This role is responsible for leading DLP operations that protect a wide range of data types—including personal, financial, customer, and confidential business information—across multiple channels and platforms. You will bring a global, enterprise‑first mindset, understanding how data flows across regions, systems, and teams, and how effective DLP controls enable the business to operate securely and compliantly at scale. The role combines hands‑on DLP leadership with continuous improvement, trend analysis, and close collaboration across cybersecurity, privacy, and data stakeholders in a global financial services environment.
To be successful as a Data Privacy Lead, you should have experience with
Deep Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Technical Expertise- Strong hands‑on understanding of DLP tooling and techniques across email, endpoint, network, and cloud environments, including content inspection, data classification integration, rule tuning, and incident triggers.
Operational Leadership in a Regulated Environment- Proven capability to lead and operate a high‑volume security control function (DLP), including alert triage, incident escalation, continuous improvement, and KPI/KRI‑driven assurance within financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
Regulatory & Data Protection Knowledge (GDPR‑Focused) -Strong understanding of data protection and privacy regulations, particularly GDPR, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into effective, defensible DLP controls and operational reporting.
Some other highly valued skills may include
Relevant Industry Certifications- Certifications such as CISSP, CIPP/E, CIPT, or SANS/GIAC credentials in DLP, cloud security, or data security, demonstrating advanced domain expertise.
Global / Follow‑the‑Sun Team Leadership Experience - Experience managing specialist security teams across multiple regions and time zones, supporting 24x7 operational models.
Vendor & Product Management Experience - Ability to manage DLP vendor relationships, evaluate product roadmaps, influence capability direction, and ensure alignment with enterprise security and data strategy.

Purpose of the role
To provide a primary liaison service between the business, technology, and security functions. In order to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information, and support the mitigation of security risk.
Accountabilities
- Collaboration with stakeholders to understand their security requirements in business processes and IT projects, to enhance overall risk management.
- Execution of risk assessments to identify and prioritise potential cybersecurity threats that could impact the banks operations and data and guide the implementation of mitigation strategies and communicate findings to relevant findings to relevant senior stakeholders.
- Collaboration with business units to develop and implement security policies and procedures for the banks operations aligned to the risk management framework.
- Management of the implementation, testing and monitoring of security controls across the banks IT systems to ensure the effectiveness of controls and mitigation of risk.
- Execution of training content and sessions to educate employees, enhance cybersecurity awareness and provide guidance on safe online practices.
- Management of complex cybersecurity incidents by collaborating with IT teams and response experts to effectively resolve cases through analysis, expertise support and project supervision.
- Identification of emerging cybersecurity trends, threats, and new technologies to address potential risks by advocating the adoption of new security solutions.
