Join us as an “Assistant VP - CEEMEA Desk Analyst” in credit trading team at Barclays is a team that focuses on trading corporate credit. The desk focuses on originating trading opportunities in CEEMEA (Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) Latin America and the US.

To be a successful “Assistant VP - CEEMEA Desk Analyst” where candidate would mainly cover CEEMEA regions supporting the onshore primary credit analyst in analysing companies for new transactions and monitoring the financial performance of the obligors in existing portfolio. The candidate would also be expected to produce analysis and presentations for senior management to track market news and trends.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, candidate is expected to exhibit high standards of understanding of risk, be able to think out of the box, has attention to detail and be sound in his/her decision making.

Basic/ Essential Qualifications:

  • Provide high quality fundamental credit analysis on the Obligors.
  • Build and maintain financial models, using underlying KPIs, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash flow statements.
  • Listen to, participate in, take notes and summarise quarterly company management calls. Use the takeaways from the calls to update the financial model and credit view on the company.
  • Perform comparative analysis of companies under coverage with other companies in the respective peer industry.
  • Identify key trends/patterns in data from market data sources.
  • Form a view on underlying obligor involving in depth credit analysis including business, financial analysis.
  • Monitor industry developments and company news flow to gain stronger understanding of underlying trends and be able to use this to refine projections and make recommendations.

Desirable skillsets/ good to have:

  • Highly analytical, strong numeracy skills and experience in analysing financials including public regulatory filings, management accounts and compliance certificates.
  • Experience primarily in credit analysis, preferably covering Europe corporates and preferably in High Yield and distressed debt.
  • Strong credit research mind set encompassing the understanding of covenants, capital structure, credit metrics and ability to synthesize the thoughts to provide a holistic credit view.
  • Understanding of bond pricing and spread measures.
  • Strong understanding of various parts of capital structure.
  • Research and fact-based approach with ability to reason decisions through and justify recommendations with key data points and relevant qualitative considerations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Fluent written and spoken English language skills are essential.
  • Able to work through tight deadlines in a pressure environment.
  • Strong team player with an ability to self-drive and run with tasks autonomously.

This role will be based out of NKP Mumbai.

Purpose of the role

Desk Analysts cover relevant sectors and credits and watch for news events. Desk Analysts work with Traders and Salespeople to convey company and market updates internally and externally to clients. Desk Analysts build financial models for the purpose of forecasting financial performance and evaluating capital structure opportunities. Desk Analysts spend significant time researching relevant companies and their industries to identify emerging trends which will impact subject company performance. Diligence consists of reading and understanding industry press, company financial reports and documents, expert interviews, and meeting with company management teams.

Accountabilities

  • Maintenance and updating of financial models, as well as client databases accurately.
  • Reports, presentations, and documentation preparation to support sales and trading activities.
  • Monitoring of market data, industry news, company news and assist in the analysis of financial information for trading decisions.
  • Monitoring financials and news flow for particular credits, sectors and general financial news
  • Using your understanding of fundamental credit to work with traders to develop trade ideas
  • Performing fundamental credit analysis on specific credits and developing actionable investment ideas for the trading desk
  • Participating in earnings/company calls, building financial models, and maintaining trading blotters
