Embark on a transformative journey as a Java Developer, where you will play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining scalable backend systems that support critical business capabilities. You will contribute to building modern applications using Java and Spring Boot, focusing on efficiency, reliability and performance. Working closely with engineers, product owners and stakeholders, you will support the delivery of microservices-based solutions and APIs, enabling seamless system integration across platforms. You will collaborate to implement business logic, contribute to development and testing activities, and support event-driven architectures with guidance. Working within agile delivery teams, you will also assist in deploying and maintaining applications in containerized environments, driving continuous improvement and adherence to engineering standards. Additionally, ensuring alignment with security, performance and compliance requirements will be a key responsibility.
To be successful as a Java Developer, you should have experience with:
• Hands-on experience in Java development (JDK 11/17/21).
• Building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Working with Spring Boot / Spring Framework.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and backend integrations.
• Writing efficient SQL queries and working with Oracle or relational databases.
• Participating in development, testing, debugging, and code reviews.
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies and ceremonies.
• Basic understanding of event-driven architecture and messaging systems such as Kafka.
• Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and deployment on Kubernetes/OpenShift.
Some highly valued skills may include:
• Basic understanding of High-Level Design (HLD) concepts.
• Experience or exposure to Camunda BPM or workflow tools.
• Frontend exposure using React.js.
• Cloud platform exposure (AWS preferred).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Prior experience in banking or financial services domain.

Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
