To be successful as a Post Trade Core Services Tech, you should have experience with:

  • Significant experience in software engineering, architecture, and delivery of large-scale, mission-critical enterprise platforms.
  • Expert-level Java development experience with strong knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
  • Strong experience with Oracle databases, data modelling, SQL performance tuning, and high-volume transaction processing systems.
  • Proven experience implementing Enterprise Integration Patterns and distributed systems using messaging and event-driven architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka and real-time streaming solutions in high-throughput environments.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing workflow and orchestration solutions using Camunda or equivalent BPM/workflow platforms.
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, domain-driven design, and system design.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the full software development lifecycle including architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, operational support, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven track record managing production-critical systems with accountability for availability, resilience, performance, observability, supportability, and operational risk management.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability frameworks to ensure platform stability and service reliability.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices, application security, resiliency, and control frameworks.
  • Experience leading technical teams, driving engineering excellence, conducting design reviews, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical direction across multiple teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience partnering with business, operations, control, and technology teams.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience within Financial Services, particularly Post Trade Processing, Cash Settlements, Payments, or Transaction Banking platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of SWIFT MT/MX messaging, payment formats, payment lifecycle processing, and payment controls.
  • Experience delivering regulatory, remediation, risk reduction, or control-driven technology initiatives.
  • Experience modernizing large monolithic platforms into cloud-ready, microservices-based architectures.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture, CQRS, asynchronous processing, and distributed transaction patterns.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, real-time search platforms, and operational analytics solutions.
  • Experience implementing resiliency patterns including circuit breakers, retries, failover mechanisms, active-active deployments, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong background in operational excellence, SRE principles, production support, incident management, and service reliability.
  • Experience working in globally distributed organizations and leading delivery across multiple regions and stakeholder groups.
  • Knowledge of observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Elastic Stack, Grafana, or similar technologies.
  • Prior experience serving as Technical Lead, Lead Architect, Engineering Lead, or Application Owner for a business-critical platform.
  • Exposure to APAC payment ecosystems and cross-border payment processing would be advantageous.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
