Embark on a transformative journey as part of the Enterprise Meta Data and Marketplace Team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in developing resilient, scalable, and reliable systems within the enterprise data domain. You will be a key contributor championing quality and performance for systems that power enterprise data adaption, AI enablement, analytics and reporting.

Working closely with Business Engagement Leads, Product Owners, Engineering teams and stakeholders across Barclays, you will help deliver high-performing solutions through agile delivery models. You will collaborate to understand the enterprise data requirements, propose and build solutions to business-critical problems.

EDP is accountable the core data centric platforms used by the business to run day to day function like MI, Analytics, Machine Learning and data integration etc using technology stack spanning Hadoop, AWS, Teradata, Ab Initio, Big Data Tech (Spark/Kafka etc) and more.

To be successful as a Senior Developer, you should have experience with:

  • Design and develop end‑to‑end solutions in Python, AWS ecosystem to solve critical business problems.
  • Specialist application developments to build complex business requirements and solve critical issues in batch and web applications built on Python and React JS.
  • Develop solutions with full lifecycle implementation of technical components. Experience on devops and infrastructure deployments.
  • Knowledge / Experience of Postgres DB, Document DB and AWS Services.
  • Ensure all required deliverables are produced in a timely manner to a high specification adhering to Barclays standards with full documentation that will allow a successful transition at the end of the project to the support team.
  • Provide innovative solutions to the business needs by delivering and assisting in managing all stages of a project including demonstrations, design, development and implementation.
  • Consult with business/analysts on implementation and maintenance of Business Applications.

Some of Highly Valued Skills may include:

  • Candidates with experience in Banking / Enterprise data domain preferred.
  • Hand on experience on AWS Cloud Services and automation.
  • Web applications (REST / SOAP APIs).
  • Microservices and containerized architecture.
  • Databases: Postgres, AWS Document DB.
  • Message queues (Kafka / MQ).
  • CI/CD integration (Jenkins, Gitlab).
  • Awareness of AWS and Azure environment.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
