We are looking for a EHS Specialist to join our Performance Chemicals team in McIntosh, AL.

In this role you will provide technical support for occupational safety and industrial hygiene compliance activities for an operating unit at the McIntosh Site through a shared services concept.

As a EHS Specialist, you create chemistry by...

  • Maintain and monitor safety and industrial hygiene compliance programs for assigned unit operations while optimizing effectiveness and efficiency of the programs during transition/implementation of Project McIntosh Tomorrow.
  • Maintain written safety and industrial hygiene programs and procedures.
  • Provide governance and oversight of safety and industrial hygiene program within assigned unit(s).
  • Participate in Process Hazards Analysis activities and participate in technical review of process changes as necessary.
  • Lead and/or participate in investigation and root cause analysis for accident/ incidents as needed.
  • Participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of safety and industrial hygiene expertise needed.
  • Support the site in with emphasis on hazard recognition, job hazard analysis, etc.
  • Provide input to Team Leader and interface with regulatory agencies, as needed, on compliance and/or enforcement issues.
  • Active participation with the EHS Community.

If you...

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Science OR in lieu of degree, have a minimum of 15 years manufacturing experience with an Associates degree in Occupational Safety or similar EHS degree.
  • 5 years in Health & Safety field, working in the chemical industry recommended.
  • 3+ years of experience in implementing environmental, industrial hygiene and safety programs in a manufacturing arena preferred.
  • Environmental, industrial hygiene and safety regulatory knowledge is required.
  • Customer Focus, Team Leadership and Teamwork, Entrepreneurial Acting/Initiative, Results Orientation, Communication, and Work Management skills are essential.
  • Basic computer skills (ex. Spreadsheets, word processing, database management) essential.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Experience with hazard recognition, job hazard analysis and Process Hazards Analysis is a plus.
