We are looking for a Seed Science Operations Agronomy Manager to join our Agricultural Solutions Division in Headingley, MB.

Accountable to the Canada Seed Science Operations Manager, this position is responsible for day-to-day operational aspects related to the management and execution of the canola field trial program in the Manitoba region. This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing operational plans, facilitating workflows, helping manage assets and budgets, maintaining equipment resources, inventory management, and ensuring all Stewardship and Regulatory compliance standards are upheld.

  • Managing and overseeing the execution of field trial program operations in the Manitoba region.
  • Providing direction, guidance, and support to direct reports and their teams.
  • Coordinating with the Canada Seed Science Operations Manager to set targets and responsibilities aligned with business needs.
  • Monitoring progress and providing timely feedback to ensure compliance with BASF's policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring internal and external compliance standards are understood, communicated, and executed within the team.
  • Participating in the local EHS program to promote safe and responsible operations in collaboration with safety coordinators and management.
  • Investigating and implementing improvements to the annual planning process and field program by identifying challenges and developing solutions.
  • Establishing and maintaining industry presence by participating in meetings and building relationships with external parties to stay updated on current industry activities.

If you have...

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related discipline. Master’s or PhD degree in agriculture or related disciplines will be an asset.
  • Minimum 5 yrs experience conducting small plot field research. Experience working in the canola industry required.
  • Minimum 3-5 yrs experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in stewarded & regulated field trialing, plant breeding, genetics, canola agronomy, canola botany, pollen flow, genetic purity, and conducting research trials using statistical design and analysis are all assets.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting tractors, sprayers, plot combines, and other small plot equipment, as well as loading, unloading, and trailering equipment, is an asset.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to be flexible and modify plans as required to minimize impact on data and production as situations arise.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
