Objectives of the position:
This position is responsible for exploring new markets and ensures sales growth through promotion of BASF products. Consult with regional office regarding business promotion in the related industrial sectors.
Main Tasks
- Account management lead for multi-Business Unit (BU) customers
- Sales generation in country, key customer management
- Develop and implement country BU business plan, including (but not limited to)
- Local business targets according to value-based mgmt. concept
- Local business plan/budget
- Local sales approach, e.g., product/customer portfolio prioritization, channel and distributor selection and management, etc.
- Local sales management, e.g., customer and relationship mgmt., customer service, mgmt. of marketing, tech. service and market intelligence (part of the sales process)
- Local top account management and implementation of global/regional account plans
- Optimization of functional activities within country BU
- Collaborate with other industry team to ensure one team approach to customer.
- Business advocacy to authorities and associations, e.g., influence for favorable regulatory change to BASF
- Effectiveness and efficiency in overall cluster business operations with focus on customer-and industry-facing activities, e.g., sales, marketing, tech. service, and cluster controlling and supply chain management
- Establish communication channel with all the BU/SBU of the industry and ensure necessary support to the country as and when required
- (New) business development and innovation, e.g., application development,
new formulations - Explore potential new business areas in the industry including expansion of customer portfolio and product portfolio
Business, sales and distribution channel management:
- Full accountability for financial performance of the industry to ensure that the agreed quantitative targets, e.g. top line, overall profits, margins, fixed costs and working capital as well as other qualitative targets, are achieved:
- Establish, evaluate, and monitor sales/profit and distribution channels of the industry with the highest sales effectiveness and cost efficiency.
- Take charge of industry’s annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, revenue flows are maximized, and variable/fixed costs are minimized.
- Drive strict cost discipline to improve our competitiveness; continuously identify cost saving measures.
- Ensure strong and effective distribution management for the industry.
Compliance and EHS:
- Ensure full compliance with the company’s code of conduct.
- Act as a role model and comply with all applicable laws, demonstrate a high level of social and ethical compliance, and ensure employees adhering to all regulatory and BASF compliance standards.
- Comply with the legal obligations and responsibilities in the effective management / implementation of environment, health and safety for all teams and relevant business partners, ensure BASF’s products are safe to use, manufacture, distribute and dispose of.
- Ensure an appropriate process for monitoring, reporting, and reviewing the compliance standards and EHS performance is set in place.
People Development:
- Responsible for the overall people development of the industry team to ensure the achievements of its business objectives:
- Lead, guide, evaluate and develop the industry team to become real entrepreneurs by implementing business development mindset / hunting spirit.
- Guide and drive definition of roles and responsibilities of employees aiming for customer centricity and intimacy.
- Formulate and communicate target settings for industry team members including clear vision for personal development and strategy execution.
- Continuously scout, develop, and retain talent to ensure the formation of the ‘best team’.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Bio-Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
• Professional qualification will be an added advantage
• Minimum 10 years' relevant working experience
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Well versed in Microsoft Office
• Hands-on knowledge in SAP will be an added advantage
