We are looking for a Local Key Account Management to join our Coatings team in Southfield, MI to service our Tier supplier accounts.

BASF’s Coatings division is a global expert in the development, production and marketing of innovative and sustainable automotive OEM and refinish coatings, decorative paints as well as applied surface treatments for metal, plastic and glass substrates in a wide range of industries. This portfolio is supplemented by "Beyond Paint Solutions", which enable new applications with innovative surfaces.

As an ASP Local Key Account Management you will report to the Americas ASP Segment Manager and will be responsible for sales and marketing activities in the account team, while cooperating with related sections like Controlling/Technology Launch/Technology Development/SCM/Production/Customization Lab.

You will support the management of the day-to-day sales management with ASP customer plants, backing profitable organic growth for BASF in North America. The role requires a moderate to advanced degree of commercial and business acumen necessitating working across multiple hierarchies both inside BASF and with our customers. We look for you to be an independent self-starter with strong organizational and analytical skills with moderate long-term strategic thinking.

This position requires to travel about of 25% of the time.

You create chemistry by...

  • Drive account customer relationship with the direction and support of the ASP Segment Manager for the Americas.
  • Summarize the data to draft the budget in Account and support the established sales target and cost management.
  • Investigate and analyze customer/competitors global trends and strategy.
  • Cooperate with ECO global organization to implement various business projects.
  • Report regularly to segment management on account activities.
  • Develop new opportunities in alignment with segment management and help develop market share.
  • Work in keeping and developing strong customer relationships.
  • Manage account activities and inform organization of opportunities, threats, customer strategy etc.
  • Actively support and/or initiate margin improvement projects
  • Network globally with internal/external related sections and team members.
  • Take on the responsibility of information hub within global ASP account team.
  • Solve customer issues related to both commercial and support with the technical service within the related segment.
  • Enhance networking and cooperation for key activities among X-BU section.

If you...

  • Have a Engineering and/or Chemistry Bachelor's degree.
  • Possess at least 3-5 years of experience in Technical and/or Commercial/Sales roles within the automotive/Tier supplier industry.
  • Hold previous experience in project and business development.
