Objectives:
• Work in a truly global environment as part of a highly engaged team in the field of automotive fluids. The main objective of this position is to further strengthen the global Technical Marketing team in the fast-developing APAC region.
• Onboarding will take place at BASF SE in Ludwigshafen as part of a 24-month assignment.
• Transfer the technical knowledge about coolants and brake fluids from Ludwigshafen to Shanghai, drive a technical community in APAC focused on a specific area of the automotive portfolio, and actively share knowledge with Laboratory and Technical Service Managers across the region.
• Further develop the portfolio in accordance to changing market and customer requirements, upscale new products, and support product launches.
• Closely collaborate with production, quality management, and the EV global labs, contributing to innovation and technical exchange.
• Build networks within the automotive industry and with stakeholders on technical level along the relevant value chain; identify emerging trends.
Main Tasks:
1. Innovation and Product Development
• Understand customer needs, market & regulatory trends and outline opportunities for product development. Contribute to global consolidation of market intelligence.
• Build contacts along the relevant value chains to identify and influence technical developments and needs.
• Define and drive innovation activities, esp. product development and phase gate projects, and appropriate documentation.
• Contribute to the steering of global patent and IP portfolio.
• Closely collaborate with production, e.g. for new product scale-up and product-related internal NCMs.
• Qualify new raw material suppliers.
2. Technical support & Training
• Own the global product know-how and assist know-how sharing in the region of Asia Pacific.
• Provide technical support for launch of new and existing products for selected key customers. Support additional selected sales activities with technical expertise.
• Closely work together with laboratory personnel.
3. Communication / Regulatory & Quality
• Develop product literature, training content and provide technical trainings.
• Derive actions based on regulatory change and anticipate future changes with implications for own product/market area.
• Represent BASF in selected internal and external events within area of responsibility (e.g. conferences, industry groups); active participation in standardization committees
• Support quality control and formulations related NCMs and MoC activities.
• Support internal and external audits for production and development (authority ~, customer ~, supplier audits), support related quality processes.
• Education: minimum MS in organic chemistry or related fields
• Working Experience: Master’s degree with 8 years industry experience, or PhD degree plus 5 years industry experience; experience in Lubricant / Automotive industry as well as in analytical chemistry, organic synthesis and the development and formulation of automotive fluids would be an additional advantage.
• Strong project management skills
• Good command in English
• High motivation to work in a global team
• Willingness to move to Germany for a period of 24 months on a delegation
• Willingness to travel – particularly outside of China
• Team player with excellent communication and presentation skills
