BASF’s Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops and produces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recycling and related products and services.
This is a key role in moving the site to a performance driven organization. In this position you will be accountable for the overall performance of the area supervised including safety, productivity, and costs, while supervising the daily shift activities of the workforce.
As a Production Supervisor, you create chemistry by...
- Executing, coordinating, and managing daily shift activities related to the manufacturing operations of the production facility, including direct supervision of the plant and packaging areas.
- Leading Operators in daily shift discussions to review safety messages, communicate work assignments, review production status & priorities and lead the Daily Production meetings.
- Leading a team of cross-functional employees, you will motivate, engage, and hold accountable the shift operators to ensure the plant is operated safely that results in a “zero-incident mindset”, and within environmental and quality guidelines, including maintaining housekeeping standard.
- Playing a key role in driving standardization across shifts, optimized fixed and variable unit costs, and work closely with support groups to increase reliability.
- Correcting equipment problems and performing general maintenance per shift to ensure reliability of equipment. You will submit work notifications to address repairs, participate in the prioritization of maintenance needs and prepare accurate safe work permits and other permits as needed for Maintenance to complete the work safely.
- Identifying potential areas needing additional training by the operators and follow up to ensure such training is provided in a timely manner. You will also verify the effectiveness of the training through routine employee evaluations. Additionally, you will ensure departmental procedures are current and accurate and that all direct reports have completed all necessary
training and possess qualifications to perform the work assigned. - Being responsible for proper compliance around safety procedures such as Safe Work, Hot Work, LT&T, facilitate management of change process, and incident reporting/investigation.
If you...
- Have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Hold 5 years of operations experience.
- Are able to work on 12 hours rotating shifts, including night shift and weekend shift.
- Have strong technical problem-solving skills to help in the resolution of problems in the different manufacturing areas that affect plant performance.
- Hold computer (Microsoft Office software) and math skills are required.
- Are proficient in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word, preferred.
- Have SAP enterprise resource planning software experience, preferred.
- Hold Shift supervisor and leadership experience, preferred.
- Possess ball-forming experience, preferred.
- Have DCS experience, preferred.
