We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Petrochemicals team in Freeport, TX.

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for the safe and quality execution of mechanical maintenance work for a Freeport CPN Industrials operating block as a maintenance mechanical technician. In this role, you will perform preventative, predictive, and corrective work on various rotating equipment including large compressors as well as small pumps and finfans. You will provide expertise regarding mechanical maintenance and will also help provide technical troubleshooting skills regarding various types of rotating equipment.

This job requires a certain amount of overtime and working during nights and weekends

During your time as a Sr Maintenance Technician (Freeport, TX), you will

  • Work with maintenance supervision, other technicians, engineers and production personnel to implement plant equipment and modifications.
  • Improve equipment reliability by maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting and utilizing all resources available. Findings reported to supervision with appropriate recommendations.
  • Support, maintain and improve preventive maintenance and Mechanical Integrity Program to insure equipment reliability.
  • Utilize shop equipment, e.g., band saw, drill press, grinders and power hand tools
  • Participate in plant safety meetings. Works within BASF site and corporate procedures.
  • Demonstrate team-oriented demeanor conducive to all BASF goals
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and housekeeping in all job duties, actively participating in 5S activities to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Leverage experience in mechanical maintenance to troubleshoot and repair rotating equipment, executing repairs effectively to minimize rework.
  • Document all repair history accurately and complete job feedback forms, ensuring clear communication with supervision and planners regarding the quality of job plans, details, and accuracy.
  • Perform required tasks in SAP to document actual time spent on repairs, and update work order status codes (RCLS, RTRN, or INPL) as applicable.
  • Actively participate in craft-level feedback initiatives, including visual board updates, supporting reliability efforts, engaging in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), identifying potential issues, and suggesting opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

If you have...

  • Required: 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Preferred: 5+ years mechanical maintenance experience and formal training as a mechanical maintenance technician.
  • Strong communication, organization and time management skills
  • Knowledge in SAP to document actual time spent, Change work orders status codes to applicable status (RCLS, RTRN or INPL).
  • Note: this job requires on-call support for after-hours production demands which includes working overtime on nights and weekends when needed.
