We are looking for a Shift Supervisor to join our Performance Materials team in Wyandotte.

We are seeking a professional like you to join the Wyandotte Polyol team. In this role, you will be responsible for the supervision of the work activities of personnel engaged in operating the plant within the unit safely and reliably to produce products. The primary focus of the supervisor is to maintain a safe and reliable plant, and to develop the Operators that work within the unit. Additionally, the position will be responsible for operator development and qualification.

During your 12 rotating shift as a Shift Supervisor, you will

  • Use your leadership and communication skills to ensure clear instructions are given to and received by operations each shift.
  • Work closely with the Day Shift Supervisor to correctly prioritize logistics needs and support shift personnel to safely perform the task at hand.
  • Ensure required maintenance is performed and that safe work practices are utilized.
  • Actively participate in EHS initiatives, including but not limited to Permit Writing, Incident Investigations, Management of Change, HAZWOPER, Incident Commander, First Aid Response, Safety Contacts, and Housekeeping.
  • Utilize your solid coaching skills to develop Operators in the understanding of the chemical plant operation, and to grow their understanding on safety, production, quality and required BASF unit expectations, procedures, and principles.
  • Draw on your interpersonal skills to interface with EH&S, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Quality, contractors, and outside vendors.
  • Use your strong technical problem-solving skills to help in the resolution of problems in the different manufacturing areas that affect plant performance.

If you...

  • Possess a High School Diploma with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required. (Batch Alkoxylation operations experience is preferred)
  • Possess strong leadership skills to direct technicians to produce quality chemicals in a safe and cost-effective manner this would be highly preferred.
  • Have strong coaching skills required to develop Chemical Plant Operator’s understanding of the chemical plant operation and to grow their understanding of technical and business issues.
  • Have interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of the organization, including contractors and vendors.
  • Own technical problem-solving skills to help in the resolution of problems in the different manufacturing areas that effect plant performance.
  • Can provide excellent written and verbal communication skills as you build relationships with multiple internal and external functions/resources at all levels.
