BASF/Chemetall, is the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, and a leading supplier of applied surface treatments worldwide. At BASF/Chemetall, we develop and manufacture tailor-made technology and system solutions for applied surface technology. Our products protect metals from corrosion, facilitate forming and treatment, prepare parts optimally for the painting process and ensure excellent coating adhesion. Our technologies and products are used in a variety of industries and end markets such as automotive, aerospace, aluminum finishing and metal forming.

The chemical treatment of metal surfaces is BASF/Chemetall core competence. The focus of our worldwide activities is on the development and implementation of customized technology and system solutions for surface treatment.

We are looking for a Industry Sales Specialist-Aerospace to join our Sales team; this is a remote position that covers N.A. This individual can be based in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico; however, near an international airport.

The Industry Sales Specialist - Aerospace will grow share of wallet within Aerospace customers by managing the relationship and executing new business through systematic upselling and cross-selling.

As a Industry Sales Specialist - Aerospace (ECT-Chemetall), you create chemistry by...

  • Account and relationship management.
  • Take ownership of the assigned account(s), sales, and pricing processes according to the company’s pricing guidelines and marketing pricing strategy for the industry.
  • Develop and maintain accuracy of assigned customers to include organizational Power Map- and decision-making hierarchy.
  • Responsible for ensuring all assigned account information is loaded into CRM (Salesforce) and is accurate and up to date.
  • Negotiate and close sales deals with the clients.
  • Support Key Industry Sales Manager, GSM and Regional Marketing in developing pricing strategy.Generate and manage commercial and technical approvals.
  • Prepare and manage bid/tender offers.
  • Assist the Key Industry Sales Manager and field sales in preparing and negotiating contracts.
  • Maintain close business relationships with key decision makers of assigned accounts.
  • Represent Chemetall in on-site visits and key meetings of assigned accounts.
  • Identify new applications and/or service needs within the industry and region.
  • Align account targets together with the Key Industry Sales Manager for assigned accounts.
  • Continuously analyze and keep track of sales and identify up-/cross-selling opportunities within the account using Salesforce.
  • Understand technical and managerial requirements of the customers.
  • Uncover and offer new products tailored to the customer’s needs.
  • Keep track of competitors’ offers and actions, initiate counteractions.
  • Engage clients with marketing and communication initiatives, events.
  • Advise Regional Marketing Manager on operational key account(s) management and Regional sales team on target accounts’ activities.
  • Support development of sales-related training.
  • Share market insights and trends with Regional Marketing management; provide input into industry segment strategy.

If you have...

  • Bachelor’s degree: Engineering, Chemistry or Business Administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of surface treatment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace.
  • Experience in Aerospace MRO / Engines.
  • Experience with key account management.
  • Demonstrated consistent sales achievement.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and sales acumen (account & relationship management, value-based selling, etc.)
  • Skills: Strategic thinking, strong cross-functional collaboration, organizational awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills, bother written and verbal.
  • 50% travel throughout North America is required for this position; individual can work remote, must live near a major airport due to the travel requirements.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $120,000-$150,000 USD. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
