We are looking for a Product Development Crop Lead Americas - Carrots to join our Agricultural Solutions team in supporting our Vegetable Seeds business in California. This is a remote role based in the state of California.

The Product Development (PD) Crop Lead exists to steer all product development activities for designated crops within the region, ensuring alignment with global and regional crop strategies. This role is designed to consolidate inputs from PD Specialists, oversee regional trial plans, and coordinate data-driven elevation decisions from early trials through introduction stages, securing timely execution of follow-up actions. It partners Regional Crop Leads (RCL) and Global Crop Managers to integrate PD components into crop strategies and marketing plans, while fostering collaboration with breeding teams to meet deliverables under the Golden Triangle framework. Additionally, the PD Crop Lead drives pipeline optimization through global alignment, guides innovation projects across the value chain, and establishes a structured framework for PD activities that supports KPI achievement, including crop vitality and successful product introductions.

  • Leading product development via strategic trial planning and execution, ensuring alignment with crop strategy and timelines
  • Monitoring crop strategies through KPIs and performance feedback, driving continuous improvement and target achievement
  • Coordinating elevation decisions with data-driven trial assessments, enabling timely seed production and launch actions
  • Consolidating PD inputs into product position and profiles, ensuring consistent, cross-country decision support
  • Guiding breeding with market-driven inputs and communication, aligning breeding priorities to commercial needs
  • Collaborating with breeding and RCL on Golden Triangle deliverables, maintaining joint planning and accountability
  • Aligning globally to optimize pipeline and spin-off success, sharing practices and harmonizing PD approaches
  • Establishing PD framework and integrating strategy across functions, leading PD specialists and embedding processes

If you...

  • Hold a BSc in Agronomy or related discipline (MSc or MBA preferred)
  • Possess 5–8 years’ relevant Product Development or international Marketing & Sales experience (10+ years preferred)
  • Demonstrate deep market knowledge and strategic vision for crop portfolios
  • Communicate effectively and manage stakeholders across regions and functions
  • Collaborate and influence cross-functional teams to build alignment and ownership
  • Deliver results with a strong focus on KPIs and performance tracking
  • Focus on customer needs and build strong commercial relationships
  • Adapt with a global perspective and contribute to strategic planning
  • Share knowledge and promote best practices across markets and teams
  • Apply a commercial mindset supported by market research and competitive analysis
  • Solve problems using data, experimentation, and sound decision-making
  • Manage projects and processes with strong planning and organizational skills
  • Apply functional PD and crop-specific agronomic expertise to guide development
  • Analyze and interpret data using relevant digital tools and platforms
  • Innovate in product development to optimize pipeline and spin-off opportunities
  • Lead and coordinate teams, guiding PD specialists toward objectives
  • Work professionally in English; Spanish proficiency highly desirable
  • Are able to travel up to 40%, domestically and internationally

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $96,000 - $132,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
