We are looking for a National Strategic Account Manager to join our Automotive Refinish team in the US.

As the National Strategic Account Manager, you will serve as the primary relationship owner for BASF’s most critical strategic customers in the U.S. automotive refinish market. This role includes leading the U.S. Strategic Account Manager team and associated Technical Service Managers, ensuring alignment across MSO, OEM, and Network segments. You will drive profitable growth through both existing accounts and new customer acquisitions, while collaborating with cross-functional teams including Business Development, Marketing, and Supply Chain. Your leadership will be pivotal in aligning customer success with BASF’s long-term objectives.

  • Acting as the executive-level liaison for national strategic accounts, engaging with C-suite and senior leadership across MSOs, OEMs, and insurance networks.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive account strategies that align BASF’s objectives with customer growth plans.
  • Leading quarterly and annual business reviews, performance scorecards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Leading and mentoring the U.S. Strategic Account Manager team and Technical Service Managers, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Ensuring team alignment with customer needs, BASF service standards, and strategic priorities.
  • Driving talent development, succession planning, and performance management within the team.
  • Driving organic growth within existing accounts and lead initiatives to acquire new strategic customers in MSO, OEM, and Network segments.
  • Owning national-level sales targets and profitability goals for strategic accounts.
  • Leading contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and forecasting activities.
  • Monitoring KPIs, customer satisfaction, and financial performance, providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Championing process improvements and technical training programs to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Collaborating with Business Development to introduce innovative technologies, digital tools, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensuring technical service managers deliver best-in-class support to strategic accounts.
  • Analyzing market trends, competitive positioning, and financial performance to inform strategic decisions.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and partnerships to expand BASF’s footprint in the U.S. market.
  • Providing insights on OEM certification programs, insurance partnerships, and emerging industry influencers.
  • Representing BASF at key industry events and forums to strengthen market presence.

If you have...

  • a Minimum of 10 years of experience in national strategic account management or sales leadership within the automotive collision or coatings industry.
  • a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven success managing large, complex customer relationships and driving growth through new customer acquisition.
  • Deep understanding of MSOs, OEM programs, insurance networks, and the collision repair ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Experience managing sales and technical teams or service delivery functions for large-scale customers.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, data analysis, and digital collaboration platforms.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $175,000 - $195,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
