Objectives of the Position

• Support BASF group companies to meet all legal and regulatory requirements related to trade compliance.
• Protect BASF’s license to operate by ensuring adherence to Import and export control, domestic regulations, sanctions, and screening obligations.


Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

• Execute trade compliance related activities for BASF companies to ensure compliance. Ensure timely update in Daily Operation Reports and regularly review compliance performance with relevant areas against business processes predefined criteria.
• Evaluate, analyze and verify trade compliance regulatory data and documentation to support system accuracy, database integrity, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
o Support team members in resolving issues related to service delivery including communication with internal customers / stakeholders / other business partners.
o Perform necessarily follow up action to ensure deliverables completed in a timely manner.
• Ensure that BASF’s trade compliance processes and standards are effectively applied across Asia Pacific (and other supported regions), covering import, export, and regulatory requirements. This includes monitoring regulatory changes, assessing business impact, managing stakeholders, and implementing compliance activities using BASF tools and digital solutions.
o Facilitate knowledge exchange on best practices sharing and training, including participation in regional or cross-regional projects and initiatives
o Report preparation, including KPI reporting, cost charging, non-conformance monitoring and improvement initiatives, using BASF tools, Visual Dashboard, and digital solutions.
• Act as focal point to support internal and external audits, including conducting Quality Checks to identify potential improvements and implement preventive measures.
• Ensure timely review, update and continuous improvement of work documentation such as process descriptions, work instructions to maintain sustainable knowledge retention and process standardization within department.
• Interface with various stakeholders such as Supply Chain, Customer Services and Technical Experts to enable effective implementation of compliance policies and BASF minimum requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma methodologies and digitalization initiatives to enhance operational excellence and process efficiency.
• Execute assigned processes with a consistently high standard of service to effectively meet the growing demands of business operations across relevant regions.
• Guide and support team members in performing routine activities for Trade Compliance Ops AP team.
• Commit to continuous self-development through proactive learning and development (70:20:10 approach) and actively contribute to building team capability.

Job Requirements (minimum requirement to carry out the work)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Law, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Background in Chemistry or related science is an added advantage for product-related compliance.

Working Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in regulatory or compliance functions, product safety & stewardship, supply chain /order management operations, or procurement activities within a multinational environment is preferred.
  • Practical experience with import and export processes, including documentation and custom procedures, is an added advantage.

Technical & Professional Knowledge

  • Knowledge of regulatory controls, import/export requirements, license/permit management, and trade compliance procedures and standards in Asia Pacific countries.
  • Understanding global trade regulations (e.g. export control, sanctions, restricted party screening) would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel /Power Point essential)
  • Experience with SAP systems in supporting compliance or logistics processes would be beneficial.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in Chinese or German is an asset.
  • Experience with digital tools and automation technologies (e.g., Robotic Process Automation, Power BI) or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, organizational (coordination) skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
