About Corporate Audit (COA)
Corporate Audit (COA) is BASF’s global Internal Audit function and acts as an independent unit to strengthen governance, risk management, and internal controls across BASF Group. With audit teams in the US (Florham Park, NY), Brazil (Sao Paulo), Germany (Ludwigshafen HQ), India (Mumbai), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), and China (Shanghai) we operate with a truly global footprint. As Director COA/OA, you will play a key role in shaping our global audit excellence and ensuring the long-term resilience of BASF Group.
Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

Audit Quality and Knowledge Management

  • Drive the overall quality of audit planning and execution and safeguard a robust audit knowledge management framework.
  • Continuously enhance the team’s capabilities and ensure targeted, high-impact audit training.
  • Provide expert opinions on complex audit topics and perform quality checks on expert statements prepared by team members.

Audit Planning and Audit Execution

  • Perform risk-based audit planning and ensure effective resource planning.
  • Plan, steer, and execute audits in line with COA standards – risk-based, systematic, and globally aligned. Internal
  • Conduct complex audits of high relevance for BASF.

Senior Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent COA in internal and external committees.
  • Lead audit closing meetings for highly complex or sensitive audits.
  • Act as a trusted counterpart to senior leadership across regions and businesses.

Leadership and People Development

  • Provide disciplinary and functional leadership to the team of Audit Managers, Senior Auditors, and Auditors located in India and Malaysia.
  • Foster talent development, coaching, and long-term career growth.
  • Embrace a winning culture and encourage winning behaviors

Further Development of Corporate Audit

  • Contribute actively as a member of the Global Audit Leadership Team to shape Corporate Audit's future including strategy update and transformation towards a modern Corporate Audit function.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of Corporate Audit while amplifying its impact and recognition within BASF Group.
  • Foster digitalization and Artificial Intelligence to further enhance Corporate Audit performance.

Job Requirements (minimum requirement to carry out the work)

Education and Certification
  • University degree, ideally in Finance and Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a comparable field.
  • External audit certification CIA or CISA. If not available at the time of application, a binding commitment to complete the certification within 2 years is required.
Professional Experience
  • Audit experience or relevant functional experience, preferably within BASF or in a multinational environment.
  • Experience working in global or intercultural settings is an advantage
Technical & Personal Competencies & Language

Technical Competencies

  • Strong expertise in auditing, and Compliance Program, Finance & Controlling, and Business Administration as well as sound understanding of Commercial Law.
  • Skilled in the use of SAP, standard applications and department-specific applications.
  • Expert skills in project management, communication, interviewing, negotiation, and knowledge transfer.

Language Skills

  • English: Advanced
  • Local language: Expert
  • Additional regional languages: Intermediate
