We are looking for a Polyphthalamide (PPA) Senior Business Development Manager to join our Performance Materials team.

We are seeking a proactive, entrepreneurial individual with a positive mindset and strong communication skills to lead PPA business development activities in North America. In this role, you will serve as the single point of contact for PPA in the region, drive pipeline growth, and ensure alignment with global strategies. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Technology, and Distribution teams to achieve significant market growth for Performance Materials. NA regional travel to customers and industry events are anticipated up to 40% of the time.

- Serving as the single point of contact for PPA in North America, ensuring alignment with global strategies and initiatives.
- Actively participating in weekly global PPA exchange meetings to share insights and align initiatives.
- Interfacing with existing and prospective customers to understand material needs, either independently or in collaboration with Sales and Technology teams.
- Driving growth of the sales pipeline and maintain momentum on existing opportunities, ensuring timely follow-up and project advancement.
- Developing accurate annual sales forecasts based on pipeline data and market insights.
- Organizing and managing leads using Salesforce and supplementary tracking tools as needed.
- Ensuring ongoing progress of PPA projects through regular follow-ups with Sales teams and customers.
- Leveraging the Distribution Sales network to expand the pipeline; conduct monthly meetings with distribution partners.
- Educating Performance Materials North America (PM NA) on the PPA portfolio to enhance internal understanding and alignment.
- Working closely with Business Development, Marketing, and Technology to identify new growth opportunities, market segments, and applications.
- Assisting the Technical Development Engineering (TDE) team in recommending appropriate PPA materials for customer applications when required.
- Understanding and communicating the value proposition of BASF PPA materials, working with Commercial and Account Management to balance profitability and market competitiveness.
- Taking ownership of customer relationships, advocate internally, and represent the voice of the customer with a sense of urgency.
If you have...
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Plastics Engineering, or related field; additional business education is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in business development, marketing, sales, or technical roles within the plastics or materials industry.
- Deep knowledge of PPA materials, the competitive landscape, technical performance, value proposition, and a strong understanding of applicable markets and customer products.
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
- Ability to travel up to 40% within North America.

Pay transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $124,000 - $180,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
