In this role, you will support the Care Chemicals EHS NA organization for health and safety activities. You will report to the Director EHS for EM NA. You will interact with EHS experts and professionals who support BASF’s North American sites and businesses.
As a Senior EHS Specialist, you will provide occupational safety expertise by identifying and controlling the hazards of our operations. You will participate in safety risk analyses & design reviews for new and existing processes, ensuring the safe design and on-going operation of our Care Chemicals facilities, reducing the risk of accidents, injuries and illnesses.
Continually improving your technical competency in occupational safety and that of your colleagues will be demonstrated by providing expert consultation on occupational safety issues and developing and delivering specific occupational safety training content.
As a Senior EHS Specialist, you create chemistry by...
- Providing technical and regulatory expertise to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and drive continuous improvement of EHS programs.
- Promoting and reinforcing a behavior-based safety culture; supporting emergency response activities and providing EHS-related guidance and input to business and site leadership.
- Supporting and assisting with the implementation of BASF Responsible Care® Management Systems (RCMS), including programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Hot Work, Fall Protection, Line Breaking, Emergency Response, Powered Industrial Trucks, and Hazard Communication.
- Participating in incident investigations, root cause analyses, project reviews, process hazard analyses, and management of change activities.
- Ensuring all internal and external EHS reporting requirements are met and recommend improvements to data collection, reporting efficiency, and system utilization in collaboration with operations.
- Leading and/or participating in EHS work teams or task forces and collaborate with EHS colleagues on the development and implementation of site and company-wide EHS processes and initiatives.
- Serving as the designated Site Security Representative (SSR) and coordinate closely with Corporate Security.
- Developing health and safety training materials and deliver training or coaching as appropriate; facilitate the sharing of EHS programs, procedures, tools, and best practices across the organization.
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of environmental, health, and safety management systems, including Responsible Care® Management Systems.
If you...
- Have education in Engineering, Science or a related field. Bachelor's degree or higher is a plus.
- Possess 5 - 10 years of experience as a Safety professional or in a related manufacturing role.
- Hold a certification as a Safety Professional, Industrial Hygienist, OR demonstrated progress toward such certifications is desirable.
