The Marketing Communications Manager - Email Marketing plays a pivotal role in shaping how customers experience BASF communications across the crop lifecycle. They lead enterprise email and website communications as a dedicated Centre of Excellence, recognizing email as a high-impact, highly scalable, and compliance-sensitive channel. This role owns email strategy, lifecycle design, standards, performance, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud execution across all BASF seed and crop protection portfolios. Centralized ownership ensures consistency, deliverability, compliance, and measurable impact while enabling BASF’s crop portfolio teams and agency partners to execute efficiently within established frameworks.

- Defining and leading the enterprise email and website communications strategy in support of crop portfolio priorities, seasonal execution, and grower lifecycle needs, while establishing the role of these channels within the broader customer journey to ensure alignment with brand positioning and crop marketing strategies.
- Owning lifecycle planning, cadence models, journey mapping, and audience strategy to drive relevance, consistency, and scalability across portfolios, and setting strategic direction for channel evolution including personalization, automation, and integration.
- Partnering closely with Marcom managers to translate portfolio objectives into effective email and website communication approaches while ensuring messaging accuracy, data integrity, compliance, and operational alignment.
- Leading the relationship with the Agency of Record by providing direction, guardrails, and priorities while avoiding duplication of strategic ownership.
- Acting as the primary internal point of alignment for enterprise email and website initiatives by resolving dependencies and ensuring smooth execution across teams.
- Authoring enterprise email and website best‑practice playbooks and defining standards for segmentation, preference management, QA, suppression, and compliance to ensure consistency and risk mitigation.
- Creating enablement materials and training to support Marcom managers, while continuously refining operating models to improve efficiency, scalability, and adoption.
- Defining enterprise KPIs, leading testing and optimization efforts, and translating performance insights into actionable guidance while monitoring deliverability, engagement trends, and risk indicators to proactively address issues.
If you have...
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Agriculture or related field or equivalent experience (required).
- Minimum 8 years progressive experience in marketing, brand management, integrated campaign leadership or other commercial experience.
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud certification or equivalent marketing automation certifications (preferred).
- 3+ years' experience leading enterprise email marketing programs at scale (preferred).
- Experience operating in a regulated and compliance-sensitive environment (preferred).
- Skills developing best practice email campaigns that integrate key brand and campaign messaging.
- Experience with lifecycle marketing, segmentation, and journey orchestration; deliverability management, CASL compliance, preference centre management, QA.
- Experience collaborating with agencies on best practice templates, A/B testing, optimization, and performance analysis.
- Knowledge of the crop protection and seed industry, farmer, retail customers and/or a strong aptitude to learn.
- Strong documentation, enablement, and stakeholder communications skills.
- Knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, MailChimp or equivalent; CRM platforms - e.g. Salesforce Sales Cloud, HubSpot or equivalent (required)
- Familiarity with Web CMS platforms (Magnolia preferred); email testing and deliverability tools; analytics platforms e.g. Piano, GA4, Adobe Analytics or equivalent (preferred); AI-driven content tools (preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (required).
