*Objectives of the Position
Take the functional leadership of the sub-team of Material characterization of Materials & Parts Testing, KR lab to assist the lab Manager of Materials & Parts Testing, KR lab to manage material characterization related testing, and thus to assist segment leader of Materials and Parts Testing to provide support for Research & Development, production, sales and marketing, business development, technical research & development and strategic objectives for company’s Performance Material business in Asia Pacific in an effective way.

*Main Tasks
1.Manage routine lab activities for material characterization
-Act as deputy lab manager of Materials & Parts Testing, KR lab.
-Be responsible for management of material characterization related lab activities (including routine of Materials & Parts Testing, KR lab.
-Lead the execution of testing tasks and make the routine maintenance plan of equipment related to material characterization.
-Implement various special material characterization methods which needs high level of theoretical background and expertise, like capillary rheometer measurement, friction testing and instrumented falling dart testing.
-Document test requests, test data and test reports as well as test methods and testing procedures and changes made on material characterization methods and test procedures.
-Develop deep interpretation of data acquired from special material characterization to better characterize specific properties of products on rheology, friction, and impact mode, etc required by different applications.
-Guarantee the accuracy of the test results for material characterization.
-Initiates the routine maintenance plan and the CAPEX plan of equipment for special material characterization, aligns with lab leader and executes the plan actively.
-Support R&D, Production, QM/QC, TS, TD, business team with technical expertise on special material characterization

2.Utilize and integrate analytics and testing network
-Support lab manager on the audit of material characterization related testing equipment and methods for EP testing labs in Korea (including QC laboratories)

-Support lab manager to explore more resources (both internal & external) relating to material characterization for guidance to internal customers.
-Assist lab manager to develop and maintain an overview of all testing labs (both internal and external) on material characterization in Asia Pacific on testing standards, methods, equipment, procedures and environment (condition).
-Build network with relevant functions within operating division and regional technical experts on material characterization through active exchange with support from lab manager.

-Build a solid knowledge base for special material characterization and share know-how with regional and global partners actively.
-Be active to utilize the material characterization network with cross labs, cross Bus, cross regions to support internal customers with support from lab manager.

3.Drive for testing harmonization
-Assist lab manager to participate in the harmonization of testing equipment and methods relating to Material characterization for all EP testing labs in A-PMA (including QC laboratories).

-Support lad manager to qualify and monitor 3rd testing parties relating to material characterization in Korea.
-Contribute to cross region testing harmonization relating to material characterization with guidance of lad manager.

4.Drive for analytics/testing technique innovation.
-Maintain an overview of the state of art of test standards, methods and equipment relating to material characterization.

-Set up new equipment and its test method relating to material characterization and document the equipment and methods independently and actively.
-Adjusts or modifies existing test methods or develops new methods on material characterization to expand the utilization of testing equipment to meet customer requirement and documents and validates the methods actively.

5.Develop self and others
-Generate and document know-how relating to material characterization as training base.

-Support lab manager on the continuous improvement of the training plan and training materials on material characterization

6.EHS, RCQM related
-Be compliant with BASF of country EHS standards and Quality Management regulations.

-Support the lad manager on spot check, evaluation and implementation of corrective measures
-Support Audit with EHS and RCQM part.
-Supports the implementation of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 17025, and Process Safety Management by practicing them accordingly to ensure full compliance with the requirements stipulated in the system actively.


*Education & Working Experience
-Master in chemical engineering or polymer science with major of rheology.

-Master with more than 5 years’ experience in chemical engineering, material mechanical testing or rheology area.

*Technical & Professional Knowledge

-Knowledge or hand-on experience of polymer processing, rheology behavior and mechanical analysis.
-Ability to write comprehensive technical report and deliver technical presentations in English;
-Knowledge or ability to learn or use quality concepts, esp. ISO 17025 will be a plus.

*Language

-Ability to communicate with written and spoken English fluently.
