The Senior Director, Cell Therapy R&D for Cytiva is responsible for leading the global R&D function and driving the Business Unit’s product development and technology strategy. In collaboration with the Business Unit’s leadership team, this position will create innovation and technology strategies while ensuring achievement of growth and profitability objectives. This role will provide leadership and coaching to a multifaceted R&D organization to ensure workforce effectiveness and support of the overall operations of the business.

This position is part of the Cell Therapy Business Unit located in Signy, Switzerland and will be on-site. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

What you will do:

  • Develop a technology strategy with product and platform roadmaps and required capabilities to deliver the business strategy, together with Product leader, Strategy leader, and Chief Technology Officer.

  • Lead global R&D investments, ensuring alignment to the Business Unit strategy, and facilitating prioritization across various projects in the portfolio.

  • Ensure product and technology development across the Business Unit’s projects and sustaining engineering activities, manage the full product lifecycle. Execute on program plans for quality, cost and schedule targets. Drive execution of product development activities that are cross-functional and multi-site.

  • Continually monitor technological changes, market trends, competitive products/pricing to identify and analyze products, services and solutions to be developed and delivered to the marketplace. Accelerate market entry to outpace competitors.

  • Partner with other functions including Product, Marketing, Strategy, Sales, and the Central Technology Organization (CTO) to assess new technologies and other strategic opportunities aligned to market trends and customer needs.

  • Communicate the business strategy and tactics clearly to the global team and provide feedback to colleagues, the leadership team and other Business Unit teams on progress, opportunities and challenges.

  • Lead the R&D team, creating trusted relationships with team members. Understand what they value and support them in achieving their development goals. Coach the team to enhance their network and identify challenging / stretch roles or projects to support career progression.

  • Create a performance driven and result oriented culture, keep customers and patient needs at the heart of our innovation.

Who you are:

  • 15+ years' experience in R&D/ Product Management in a related Life Sciences field ideally with direct linkage to Cell Therapy market or manufacturing.

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in product strategy, R&D strategy or strategic development.

  • Demonstrated track record across Innovation programs, New Product Development and Product Engineering/ Sustaining phases of R&D.

  • Demonstrated experience of leading large teams/ functions, managing leaders as well as leading change.

  • Fluency in English language (written and spoken); French will be an asset.
