The Global External Communications Manager for Leica Biosystems is responsible for leading global external communications efforts, establishing thought leadership for our executives, and overseeing public relations campaigns that showcase our impact on patients, customers, and the broader pathology and oncology industries.

This position is part of the Global MarCom and Design team remotely located and will be fully remote. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and execute strategic global communications plans to support corporate objectives, announcements, product launches, and brand campaigns, ensuring alignment across digital (social media, blogs, website) and traditional (press, trade publications, events) channels.
  • Craft clear, compelling messaging across all channels—including press releases, media pitches, bylined articles, blog posts, and executive communications. Develop and maintain a robust executive thought leadership platform, driving visibility for key leaders through media, industry events, and digital presence.
  • Oversee public relations agency relationships, including management of timelines, budgets, and deliverables, to maximize media impact and strategic focus.
  • Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and competitor activity to inform strategy and identify opportunities for proactive storytelling and brand positioning. Develop customer testimonials in coordination with regional and product marketing teams—ensuring stories are impactful, compliant, and aligned with brand messaging across formats (written, video, social).
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including Medical/Scientific Affairs, Product Management, and Commercial Leadership— to ensure scientific accuracy and strategic alignment.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 5-7 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or journalism, ideally within healthcare, diagnostics, biotech, or life sciences.
  • Demonstrated success in driving media placements and thought leadership activities.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts for various audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for science, innovation, and improving patient outcomes.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

Travel: 10%

Work environment: this is a full-time remote position that offers flexibility and autonomy while working within a highly collaborative, global team environment. The role requires excellent virtual communication skills and the ability to manage projects and relationships across time zones. While primarily home-based, the position includes up to 10% travel for team meetings, customer visits, and industry conferences, as needed.

The salary range range for this role is $100,000 - $135,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
