The Legal Counsel, Americas is responsible for providing comprehensive legal support, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and supporting operations across the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. This role significantly impacts the organization by mitigating legal risks and aligning legal strategies with business goals.

This position reports to the Sr. Legal Counsel and is located on-site in Waltham, MA and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify, assess, and escalate legal and compliance risks, providing clear, actionable guidance to management and business stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Demonstrate strong technical proficiency, with solid command of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, Teams) and experience using Outlook for email and calendar management.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization—from junior associates to senior executives—using a service-oriented, business-minded approach to legal practice.
  • Embrace a continuous improvement mindset, aligned with the Danaher Business System (DBS), to drive efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence in legal support.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house roles in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences sector.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance laws and regulations, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, FCPA, HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience supporting international teams and managing cross-border legal matters, with strong prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • A team player with a “can-do” attitude, collaborative mindset, and a desire to learn and grow.
  • Understanding of public tender processes and legal frameworks for selling to government or state institutions.
  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a plus.
  • High ethical standards, sound judgment, and a proactive, business-oriented mindset

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

The base salary range for this role is $125,000 - 145,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.

We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
