The Technical Lead, Software Systems Integration and Automation, will lead the end-to-end testing of complex, multi-component systems while defining and executing test automation strategies that ensure quality, reliability, performance and compliance. This role emphasizes automation, system integration, and performance testing in a regulated environment. You will act as a resource for less experienced colleagues and may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
This position is part of the Engineering department located in Vista California and will report to the Manager, Systems Integration and Verification, and will be based onsite, in Vista, CA. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Own the system integration test plan and coordinate end-to-end verification and validation (V&V), including risk-based testing and usability/human factors evaluations.
Lead the design, implementation, and automation of testing workflows, enabling faster feedback and higher test coverage across the system.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins) for continuous feedback.
Ensure full traceability from system requirements to validation outcomes, maintaining quality and compliance across the development lifecycle.
Mentor SQA engineers and promote best practices in test automation, driving standard work and continuous improvement (Kaizen) in integration and V&V processes. Identify gaps and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
5 + years’ experience in software testing or development, ideally within a regulated environment.
Demonstrated experience with test automation frameworks, such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress.
Proficient in scripting languages including Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
Strong experience with CI/CD tools and best practices.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Familiarity with medical device regulations, design control processes, cybersecurity standards and best practices.
Experience with requirements management and traceability tools.
The salary range for this role is 130,000 - 145,000 USD Annual. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
