The Plant Director at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics oversees manufacturing operations at the Mishima site in Japan. This role focuses on ensuring effective processes to meet established targets for safety, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity. Emphasis is placed on continuous improvement through the implementation of the Danaher Business System (DBS). This position is part of the Global Operations function and reports to the VP of Operations APAC.

The Plant Director is responsible for executing global operations strategies. This role includes managing and improving manufacturing process in factory, enhancing productivity, reducing inventory, and effectively leveraging DBS tools and culture. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations APAC, the Plant Director oversees the manufacture of all Chemistry analyzers at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, with an annual product value of approximately $100 million at standard cost. The team consists of around 300 associates at the Mishima site, Japan.
This individual will demonstrate proven leadership required to drive daily process execution using lean tools and must provide a balanced approach to evaluating and improving people, plans, processes, and performance.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Oversee daily operations and manufacturing processes.
- Adhere to the production schedule to meet customer demand and ensure on-time delivery.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with the quality department to ensure adherence to quality protocols.
- Drive the effective implementation of the Danaher Business System (DBS) tools to improve productivity
- Manage manufacturing budgeting and resource allocation, and monitor production costs and implement cost-saving measures.
- Set and implement policies, goals, objectives, and procedures for manufacturing operations.
- Lead the annual operation planning process, ensuring alignment with global operations imperatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the manufacturing operation team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- BS or BA Degree in a technical discipline (preferably Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field).
- Extensive experience in a manufacturing or supply chain leadership role.
- Over 20 years of experience in relevant industries, including a minimum of 10 years in managerial positions.
- Proven track record of achieving outstanding operational results.
- Extensive experience leading in a lean manufacturing and continuous improvement culture.
- Understand the drivers of financial performance and experience working closely with the finance team to monitor cost improvements.
- Demonstrated proficiency in strategic and analytical decision-making, combined with creative problem-solving abilities.
