We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Software Engineering to lead our multi-functional software teams to deliver high quality software. In this pivotal role, you will use your technical judgment, experience, and knowledge to build the vision, execution strategy, architecture, and lead teams from concept to deployment and post launch support. The role expands the strategic and executional alignment within engineering and across cross functional groups for a successful delivery of the Software projects.
This position is a leadership role part of the Software Engineering within Global R&D and will be located at Bangalore, India.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Define and align business cases and product feature requirements for GX Product Software in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders using structured product management frameworks
- Lead development and timely delivery of GX instrument software applications using Agile and Lean methodologies, ensuring sprint velocity and release cadence targets are met
- Develop and implement SOPs, execution models, and software lifecycle processes aligned with ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 compliance standards
- Manage resource capacity planning and recruitment pipelines to maintain a minimum 90% team utilization rate and fill critical software engineering roles within 60 days
- Drive engineering excellence through deployment of Danaher Business System (DBS) tools and measurable process improvement initiatives across software development teams
- Provide technical mentorship and execution oversight to cross-functional leaders, ensuring milestone adherence and defect resolution rates meet quarterly targets
- Oversee integration of GX software features with internal and external systems, maintaining compatibility with instrument firmware, cloud platforms, and LIMS interfaces
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Minimum 15 years of software development experience including embedded, application, and cloud technologies; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
- Minimum 4 years of direct managerial experience leading software and technical engineering teams in a regulated industry
- Proven track record of delivering software products for medical instruments within FDA, ISO, or equivalent regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated proficiency in driving cross-functional collaboration across global teams to execute software application roadmaps
- Experience applying customer feedback to improve product design and software functionality in commercial or clinical environments
- Led structured improvement initiatives using DBS or similar operational excellence frameworks to enhance software development outcomes
- Oversaw large-scale software programs with measurable performance metrics, including team productivity, delivery timelines, and compliance adherence
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Customer-first and results-oriented mindset and the ability to make practical decisions when making engineering choices.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to navigate complex corporate environments and influence stakeholders and partners.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical problems to non-technical audiences.
