The Lead Mechanical CAD Engineer II is responsible for managing the mechanical design files, improving existing system designs and processes, and giving technical support to SolidWorks design and/or PDM related questions/issues. This role will offer the opportunity for engineers to refine their technical knowledge on a variety of tools for CAD management, design, simulation, reliability, and tolerance analysis as well improve their ability to work cross functionality across the entire Cepheid business.
This position is part of the Mechanical Engineering team in the Hardware Engineering organization located in Bengaluru, IDC, India and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Administer and maintain SolidWorks PDM system for design file management across Cepheid, ensuring version control and access compliance
- Validate synchronization between SolidWorks PDM designs and documentation released in Cepheid’s Quality Management System (QMS)
- Troubleshoot and resolve SolidWorks and PDM-related technical issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Manage engineering software licenses and monitor server performance metrics to ensure optimal uptime and resource utilization
- Develop and maintain standardized drawing templates, part libraries, and design documentation; conduct empirical studies including protocol execution, data analysis, and reporting of engineering findings
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 5+ years of experience.
- 7+ years of responsibilities and experience in design control, CAD PLM, managing CAD standards, PDM Professional vault workflows and user management.
- Experience working in product development in diagnostics, medical devices, life sciences, or biotechnology.
- Expert in SolidWorks and Ansys simulation tools.
- Experience leading projects as a technical lead or project manager.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes (including soft and hard tooling, machining, injection molding, wire EDM, electro polishing, brazing, heat treatment, etc.).
- Excellent understanding of tolerance stack up, molding processes, thermal management and simulation, finite element analysis, computational Fluid Dynamics, etc.
