As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, testing, and implementation of Cepheid next generation software products. In this hands-on role, you will collaborate closely with our Software, Hardware, Research, and Operations teams—as well as other cross-functional partners—to design and develop GenXpert software products and capabilities, while also creating operational tools to boost organizational productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency in product development. You will spend approximately 60% of your time coding to bring your designs and architecture to life, ensuring that best practices and innovative solutions are implemented throughout the organization. You will partner with teams across sites to build technical capability at Cepheid.
This position is part of the R&D Department and will be in Bangalore, IDC, India . Our vision is to continuously drive innovation and efficiency in our development processes, leveraging the latest in software and hardware technologies to meet the needs of our global customers.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead software architecture, design, development, maintenance, and deployment of products using Agile and Lean software development methodologies
- Design and implement scalable software solutions with 100% hands-on contribution, including conducting design reviews and documenting detailed software designs
- Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks for unit, component, and system-level validation to ensure end-to-end product quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including SQA, Marketing, Service, Support, and Program Management to align on product development and delivery milestones
- Utilize industry-standard tools and technologies to exchange technical specifications and design artifacts with engineering teams, ensuring compliance with product requirements
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Engineering degree in computer science or equivalent with 10+ years of experience in software development and system architecture
- Minimum of 3+ years as a technical architect designing system architecture and software applications in regulated environments
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience with AWS cloud development, deployment models, and AWS stack components
- Proficiency in Java, Spring MVC, Angular 2.0, Python, and REST API for web application development
- Full-stack development experience across UI, application logic, and back-end database layers
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Medical Device or an equivalent regulated domain.
- A background in leveraging AI to improve operational performance.
- Experience working with distributed teams in a global setting.
