The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and analyzing mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging. The incumbent will conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs, as well as provide direct support to personnel in the preparation of detailed designs, design testing, and prototype fabrication. He or she will provide design information to draft for packaging documentation.

This position reports to the Manager, Hardware and is part of the Research & Development Medical located in Singapore and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the key responsibilities of:

  • Drive product development from concept and prototype through to manufacturing release, ensuring cost, process, and quality optimisation.
  • Lead design reviews and implement iterations to improve manufacturability and compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and operations teams for tooling design, fabrication, and production readiness.
  • Support engineering changes, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to resolve design and quality issues.
  • Manage technical documentation including PLM, BOM, verification and validation, and qualification processes.

The essential requirements of the job include

  • Education & Experience: Master’s degree or strong Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with at least 5 years of relevant product development experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven knowledge of product lifecycle development and proficiency in Mechanical CAD and 3D modelling tools.
  • Component & Process Skills: Hands-on experience with metal and plastic components (e.g., aluminium die casting, CNC machining, injection moulding) and familiarity with PCBA, connectors, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Design & Analysis Competence: Strong understanding of DFM/DFA concepts, tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, DFMEA, and basic CAE simulations (stress and thermal), including tools like Ansys or Creo Simulate.
  • Regulatory & Quality Knowledge: Working knowledge of US/EU medical device regulatory requirements and exposure to lifecycle/reliability testing and system integration.
