The Position:
The Business Account Manager – Mass Spectrometry Enterprise Software is responsible for the expansion of footprint in the mass spectrometry enterprise software market. This is a sales-focused position, ideal for an experienced professional with a proven hunter mentality who excels at opening new doors, building lasting relationships, and converting prospects into loyal customers.
We are seeking a self-motivated and results-driven individual to:
- Be part of the rapid growth of the mass spectrometry software market driven by complex biotherapeutics, regulatory demands, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Help leading biopharma and biotech companies automate and optimize their R&D workflows for faster, more efficient innovation.
- Bridge the worlds of life science research and SaaS technology sales—acting as a translator and connector between scientific needs and enterprise software solutions.
- Identify and capitalize on SaaS opportunities, driving incremental revenue through increased licensing and ongoing hosting.
- Thrive in a dynamic, varied role where you own the entire sales cycle—from lead generation to closing and post-sale account expansion—while working closely with scientific consultants, project managers, legal, marketing, and development teams to deliver tailored solutions that solve real-world challenges in the life sciences.
This position reports to the global head of Business Account Manager – Expressionist and is part of the Expressionist Business Unit located in Lexington, MA and will be an on-site role .
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive New Enterprise Sales: Identify, target, and win new business opportunities within top biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, and CRDMO companies seeking to digitalize their MS-based analytical workflows.
- Expand Existing Accounts: Deepen and cultivate relationships with decision-makers in analytical development, quality control, and R&D informatics to identify new opportunities for growth and partnership, thereby growing account value and uncovering cross-sell solutions.
- Champion the Client’s Buying Journey: Serve as a trusted advisor, understanding client needs, aligning solutions with their business goals, and guiding them through complex decision-making processes.
- Lead Complex Sales Engagements: Orchestrate enterprise sales involving multiple stakeholders across scientific, IT, and business functions, ensuring alignment and buy-in at every stage.
- Develop and Execute Account Strategies: Create strategic account plans and execute tactical sales initiatives to meet and exceed targets.
- Negotiate and Close: Prepare pricing proposals, negotiate contracts, respond to RFPs, and ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
- Deliver Value and Insight: Create compelling offer and mutual success plan decks, guide demo preparation with internal teams, and ensure clients see the transformative value of Genedata Expressionist.
- Foster Collaboration: Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences and seamless transitions from sale to implementation.
- Represent Genedata: Promote the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings through impactful presentations and networking.
- Be the Client’s Voice: Channel client feedback to internal teams, helping shape product development and market strategy.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of customer-facing sales or business development experience in the life sciences/pharmaceutical/biotech industry, ideally with a track record of winning new business in enterprise software or analytical services
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of mass spectrometry and biopharma analytical workflows, highly advantageous.
- SaaS or enterprise software sales experience highly valued.
- Experience of utilizing AI-supporting technologies to augment (not replace) existing sales skills Including prospecting, outreach, qualification, solution-development and negotiation skills
- A proven playbook of strategies and tactics which could be adapted to this role.
- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
This position requires up to 50% travel within US and <5% travel to Europe
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Mass Spectrometry and have a deep understanding of mass spectrometry and biopharma analytical workflows
The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $100,000 to $130,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
