As our new Systems Engineer (f/m/d) you will play a key part in sustaining our products throughout their entire lifecycle—from launch to end-of-life. Beyond supporting existing products, you will also take on a technical leadership role focused on the scoping, development, and implementation of custom design solutions to meet specific customer needs across a broad range of Molecular Devices’ standard product offerings.

You will collaborate with a highly skilled technical team and work closely with stakeholders including manufacturing, service, product management, application scientists, and product development. Together, you will drive improvements and enhancements to our high-precision electro-mechanical and optical systems.

In this position you will work full time at our office in Puch bei Hallein (Salzburg area).

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborate on user requirements with Customer, Sales, Marketing and Applications

  • Create design specifications based on user needs

  • Perform concept experiments and determine feasibility of solutions

  • Perform engineering analysis of the existing technology and develop strategies for how to achieve the desired function

  • Coordinate designs with other key functions including Mechanical, Optical, Electronic, Firmware Engineering and Software Engineering

  • Drive engineering analysis including design reviews and verification

  • Perform system build, integration, testing and troubleshooting/debug

  • Utilize effective hands-on problem solving to determine problems, find root causes, verify and implement countermeasures, and sustain results

  • Learn and use tools such as FMEA, Problem Solving, Poka-Yoke and Standard Work to achieve quality, delivery and cost targets and to continuously improve processes

  • Document and control engineering changes

  • All other responsibilities and/or other related duties as assigned

Your profile

  • Be educated with a Life Science Degree in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering or Physics

  • Several years’ experience in R&D in measuring and detection technology.

  • Proven ability to perform systems integration and verification to defined requirements

  • Creative thinker with excellent troubleshooting skills in the areas of mechanical, electro-mechanical, optical, communication and control systems

  • Very good English language skills, German language is nice to have

For this position, the collective agreement for the electrical and electronics industry applies; the minimum monthly gross salary is € 4.341,85 (based on full-time employment), with willingness to pay more depending on qualifications and experience.
