This position is part of the India Commercial Team, located in Bangalore, India and will be remote with some expectations to attend the local Danaher office from time to time. The Field Application Scientist (FAS) provides technical field support to IDT’s Gene Reading (Next Generation Sequencing - NGS, qPCR and custom oligos) customers regarding product design, customer training and end use. Our FAS team assists sales team to identify, convert and support potential/existing NGS customers. The field team advocates for the voice of customer to collaborate with internal cross-functional teams for future NGS product development. Our FAS is expected to build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service and the advancement of IDT’s presence in the market.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Provide pre- and post-sales technical field support for IDT’s Gene Reading Portfolio, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Oligo/qPCR, and emerging applications.
Partner with Sales to identify, convert, and support potential and existing customers, contributing to pre-sales proposals and presentations to achieve financial objectives.
Represent IDT’s products at industry events, trade shows, and demonstrations, showcasing established technologies.
Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to communicate the value of the Gene Reading portfolio to customers and channel partners.
Work with Product Management, Applications Support, and Customer Care to identify key customer requirements for future product development. Support product design, customer training, and end-use scenarios.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in molecular biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field; PhD preferred.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in experimental design, optimization, troubleshooting, and wet lab work in Molecular Biology and NGS applications.
Experience in NGS assay development and library construction.
Expertise in molecular bench techniques (library prep, PCR, target enrichment) and at least three years of experience with major NGS platforms (short read or long read sequencers).
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
It would be a plus if you also possess:
Knowledge of gene synthesis workflows.
Background in NGS bioinformatics and targeted sequencing analysis.
