Field Service Engineer

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for delivering high‑quality installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair services for Molecular Devices instruments while maintaining customer satisfaction through exceptional service excellence. This role ensures optimal instrument uptime, effective issue resolution, and supports both customers and internal teams through technical expertise and collaboration.
This position reports to the Service Manager, Korea and is part of the Service Team located in Seoul, South Korea and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Perform installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs for Molecular Devices instruments while managing spare parts inventoryervice quality.
- Support sales and applications teams in instrument demonstrations and promote service agreements or trade‑in options for out‑of‑warranty instruments.
Collaborate effectively with commercial teams to enhance customer experience and service quality.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in bio‑engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, biology, electrophysiology, cell biology, or related field.
- Multiple years of hands‑on field service experience working with high‑value, high‑complexity scientific instruments.
- Skilled in troubleshooting electromechanical, assay‑related, and analytical instruments, with effective English communication in technical service settings
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role
- Ability to travel up to 80% across Korea, including occasional overnight trips.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 20 kg.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Servicing or supporting laboratory instruments used with biological samples, cell‑based assays, or analytical workflows in research or pharmaceutical environments.
