The Sr. Demand Planner is responsible for
Supporting the development and execution of the company's sales and operations planning processes. You will play a crucial role in aligning the sales forecast with the operational capabilities of the organization.
This position reports to the Global Demand Planning Manager and is part of the Global Supply Chain Team located in Indianapolis, IN, U.S. and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Demand & Supply Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop accurate demand forecasts for Flow and Particle Counting instruments, and a portion of consumables, based on historical data, market trends, and customer insights. Continuously monitor and refine these forecasts to ensure alignment with business objectives. Also, Coordinate the planning and scheduling of resources to meet demand and optimize inventory levels.
- Lead the end‑to‑end demand planning cycle, including monthly, weekly, and ad‑hoc updates. Ensure cross-functional inputs (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain) are captured and aligned.
- Sales and Operations Meetings: Participate in regular S&OP (13 weeks Ops) meetings to review and assess forecast accuracy, identify gaps, and propose corrective actions. Offer recommendations to improve operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales, production, inventory, and customer service levels. Provide regular reports and insights to management, highlighting areas of concern and potential improvement opportunities. Identify opportunities for process enhancements and automation to streamline S&OP activities and improve overall efficiency.
- Create dashboards, reports, and executive summaries highlighting demand trend and exceptions. Track impacts of demand changes on revenue, service levels, and inventory. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information, for example, PSP for monthly forecast bias for forecast accuracy improvement.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree with 9+ years experience OR master’s degree with 7+ years’ experience OR doctorate degree with 4+ years experience, preferably with Engineering, Statistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Several years years in demand planning/S&OP/IBP, including multi‑region or global scope; proven delivery in volatile environments (supply constraints, promotions, launches).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, ERP systems, statistical analysis software). Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders. Continuous improvement mindset and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process enhancements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role
- Ability to travel – up to 10% travel in the U.S.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Strong knowledge and experience with Salesforce, with the ability to extract insights and improve forecast accuracy.
- Strong proficiency in statistical forecasting (ARIMA, regression, MLR, causal models).
- Background in continuous improvement: Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies.
