The Field Service Engineer is responsible for independently maintaining, repairing, and optimising clinical and research instrumentation to ensure strong service performance, administrative compliance, and consistent preventative maintenance completion. Acting as a trusted technical partner to customers, the role contributes to revenue growth through customer retention, sales support, and identification of new service opportunities.

This position reports to the NSW Service Supervisor and is part of the ANZ Service Team located in Sydney and will be an on-site role covering NSW and assisting other ANZ regions when required

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Deliver expert field service by maintaining, repairing, and optimising histopathology instrumentation to maximise uptime and performance.
  • Achieve service KPIs including preventative maintenance completion, service effectiveness, and administrative compliance.
  • Resolve complex technical issues through strong analytical problem-solving across hardware, software, and applications.
  • Build and maintain trusted customer relationships to drive satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnership value.
  • Support business growth by collaborating with sales, identifying service and product opportunities, and contributing technical expertise at customer engagements and conferences.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Proven technical expertise in servicing and troubleshooting laboratory or medical instrumentation, with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and application issues.
  • Strong customer communication and relationship skills, with the ability to build trust and represent the company professionally in clinical and research environments.
  • Effective time management and administrative discipline, ensuring compliance with service procedures, documentation standards, and KPI targets.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

  • Ability to travel – approximately 30% of time within region and across ANZ where needed. Some internation travel required for training
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Electrical / Mechanical engineering
