The Upstream Product Management for Cytiva D&M is responsible for developing new products development to establish, enhance or distinguish product placement within the competitive area. Develops business plans and product positioning in the marketplace. Oversees market research monitors competitive activity and identifies customer needs. Establish pricing strategies. Works very closely with engineering, manufacturing and sales to serve business growth.

This position is part of D&M OpCo located in Shanghai. At Cytiva, our vision is to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Upstream Product Management:

  • Identify new product and innovation opportunities based on market trends, customer feedback, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop comprehensive business cases, including market sizing, financial modeling, and strategic fit analysis.
  • Lead VOC (Voice of Customer) initiatives to validate product concepts and ensure alignment with customer needs.
  • Drive product concepts through the stage-gate process, from ideation to launch readiness.
  • Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to translate market needs into product specifications.

Localization Strategy & Execution:

  • Lead product and process localization to meet regional regulatory and market requirements.
  • Build and manage a localization pipeline with Downstream Product Managers to address product gaps.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with commercial, regulatory, supply chain, and technical teams to ensure successful product development and market entry.
  • Integrate regional insights into global product development strategies.

Continuous Improvement & DBS:

  • Host and facilitate DBS Kaizen events to optimize workflows and drive innovation in bioprocessing systems.

Sales Enablement:

  • Develop and deliver sales tools, training materials, and technical resources to support commercial teams and enhance sales effectiveness.

Requirements:

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Master’s degree in biology or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in life sciences or healthcare
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Mandarin and English, suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the Life Sciences industry with solid understanding of bioprocess or new modality engineering.
  • Experience in product localization or international product development.
  • Familiarity with DBS principles and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Business development experience or MBA is a plus.
