The Associate Principal Firmware Engineer provides advanced technical leadership in the design, development, and integration of embedded firmware for Leica’s microscopy systems. The role translates complex system‑level requirements into robust firmware solutions and supports seamless integration with electronics, optics, mechanics, software, and V&V functions. This position collaborates closely with R&D, RA/QA, Product Management, Operations, and global engineering teams to ensure high performance, reliability, and technical quality throughout the product lifecycle. Key challenges include managing increasing firmware complexity, influencing subsystem‑level architecture decisions, ensuring timely integration across multidisciplinary domains, and supporting regulatory and quality expectations while driving improvements to processes, architecture, and tools.
