Area of Responsibilities:

As functional manager of the mechanical engineering team, his/her major responsibilities include:

Responsible for recruiting and retaining talents that are aligned with business strategy and project needs Responsible for resource allocation, performance management, and team competency development Leading, guiding, and managing team to carry out product development and mechanical design work, and ensure team carries out project development work in strict accordance with the requirements of the structure development process/project schedule Responsible for technical design check and review to ensure design quality The first person responsible for achieving the delivery, quality, and cost objectives in the mechanical design field Develop and optimize process, work instruction and guideline that are critical to product development according to external and internal regulation and standard Build a good work environment including laboratory and tool sets. Assist supply chain supplier selection and production process (assembly and inspection) development

Person Specification:

Skills / Competencies:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimal 10 years work experience or M.S. with minimal 7 years experience
  • Solid knowledge in process, regulatory affair and standard regarding medical device product development like ISO 13485, etc.
  • Minimal 2 years management experience in R&D team
  • Minimal 5 years medical device or life science product development experience
  • Experience in complex system development, such as, structural design, pneumatic and fluidic system development, or complex motion system development.
  • Understand typical design method and tool, DOE, FMEA and reliability design.
  • Hands-on experience and solid capability in mechanical design, testing, and manufacturing process
  • Excellent people skill and problem-solving skill
  • Must be a team player and experienced in global collaboration in a matrix organization
  • Excellent English communication ability (verbal and written) and technical communication ability

Functional knowledge:

  • Requires in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines

Business Expertise:

  • Applies understanding of the business and how own area integrates with others to achieve departmental objectives

Leadership:

  • Manages one or more generally homogeneous teams; adapts departmental plans and priorities to meet short-term service and/or operational challenges

Problem Solving:

  • Identifies and solves technical and operational problems; understands and recognizes broader impact across the department

Impact

  • Guided by policies and departmental plan, impacts the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives

Interpersonal Skills

  • Guides and influences others either internally or externally to adopt a different point of view
