The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting the daily execution of environmental, health, and safety programs at our Hauppauge site. This includes conducting inspections and training, maintaining compliance records, and serving as a visible safety resource across the site. Working under the direction of the Senior EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist plays a key role in promoting a safe and compliant workplace through hands-on support and consistent engagement.
This position reports to the Senior EHS Manager and is part of the Manufacturing & Operations department located in Hauppauge, NY and will be an on-site role.
What you will do:
- Conduct routine EHS inspections and internal checks to identify and document safety or environmental issues across the site, supporting annual Phase Audit readiness.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of job-related injuries or accidents.
- Conduct safety training, including logistics, scheduling, and tracking of completion metrics in alignment with internal requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Support incident and near-miss documentation, gathering information, entering data into reporting systems, conducting investigations and tracking status of corrective actions.
- Assist in management of hazardous waste staging and labeling, ensuring proper segregation, signage, storage, and readiness for pickup and manifesting.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related technical field
- 2+ years of relevant experience in an EHS related role, preferably manufacturing or lab operations.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, strong presentation skills and strong cross functional teamwork skills
- Knowledge of OSHA, regulatory safety compliance requirements; preferably knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 General Industry regulations
- Ability to manage and maintain structured records and/or checklists.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- This is a primarily on-site role based in Hauppauge, NY; occasional travel (up to 5%) may be required to participate in benchmarking visits, kaizen events, or EHS team workshops at other sites.
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods during routine inspections.
- Ability to lift and carry materials such as spill kits, inspection tools, and safety equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, lab coats, and hearing protection when entering certain areas of the site.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Using EHS software platforms such as Gensuite, Velocity EHS, or similar systems for tracking inspections or incidents
- Experience with hazardous waste management.
- Chemical hygiene and industrial hygiene program management.
The annual salary range for this role is $68,500 - $91,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
