Job Description Summary

The Demand and Supply Planner delivers consistent excellence in product demand planning and inventory management, engaging closely with BD ANZ Commercial teams, regional and global Supply Chain teams, third parties and BD source locations to achieve positive customer outcomes. The Demand & Supply Planner’s responsibilities extend to making appropriate recommendations to optimize inventory, minimize cost, and to propose portfolio goals and service objectives.

The role also includes negotiation with local divisions and international teams to achieve inventory expectations and to prepare the necessary reporting and visibility of results and future plans. It includes all aspects of the portfolios success which can include consignment inventory, interbranch replenishment, goods in transit, Master Data and aspects of stock management such as expirations as examples.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Marketing & Product Managers to establish the demand for one or more BD businesses or sub-businesses.

  • Maintain demand planning activities such as forecast profiles, new products, conversion strategies, contracts and tenders through to order creation and fulfilment, ensuring the international suppliers and manufacturing divisions meet the requirements of both Australian and New Zealand markets.

  • Review historical demand trends and drivers to prepare statistical forecast modules.

  • Lead the Demand consensus monthly meetings to discuss high variances for actual demand vs forecast, highlight erratic and trending demand, and review of sales budget to finance impact.

  • Lead cross functional monthly Sales & Operations meetings to help the business keep supply and demand in balance and achieve operational KPI’s and service performance goals to customers.

  • Liaise with supply sites, centres of excellence, customer service, distribution, and shipping teams to ensure actions are executed as planned

  • Complete regular review of Inventory planning parameters and maintain in ERP system

  • Control, monitor and maintain product inventories in accordance with safety stock levels and future day sales requirements. Trouble shoot issues and matters as they arise.

  • Manage backorder reporting, including the communication to the Customer Service, Marketing and sales teams.

  • Routinely review and measure Key KPI metrics (FA, BO, OTIF, DIO as examples), providing drivers and actively partner with marketing teams to improve.

  • Actively work to reduce inventory variances such as excess and obsolete stock, and exposure to potential stock write-off

  • Complete regular Management reporting to evaluate performance against current metrics.

  • Maintain life cycle parameters in product master, general inventory maintenance of the system master data and responsible for the coordination of system upgrades and new planning tools, currently SAP’s Supply Chain Manager.

  • Facilitate and follow through Product recalls and RGA returns to supplying source.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Proven Inventory planning experience

  • Demonstrated analytical skills

  • Able to build and develop strong relationships with people at all levels, both internally and externally, and to lead cross-functional groups to deliver superior customer service

  • Strong organisational and planning skills

  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written

  • Relevant tertiary business qualifications required

  • Self-motivated, independent and resilient

  • Healthcare industry experience highly desirable

  • Demonstrated qualification or knowledge in the following:

  • APIC’s

  • Supply Chain Management & Logistics

  • Inventory Planning & Procurement

  • SAP/Supply Chain Process and planning
