BILL is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Identity team. As a senior engineer you will be leading projects in our enterprise SaaS application used by millions of SMBs. In this role, you will collaborate on product and technical design with talented product managers and engineers. You’ll have opportunities to own the technical planning, implementation, and delivery of impactful features. Our team works on all things auth, whether that’s authenticating users at our products’ front doors, or authorizing what those users can do through roles and permissions. We’re at the forefront of defining the experience of a unified BILL platform, helping customers manage their information across BILL’s portfolio of market-leading products. We leverage a software stack that includes technology like Elixir, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Kafka.
We’d love to chat if you have:
- 5+ years of relevant backend software development experience
- Complete confidence in planning, writing, testing, shipping, and maintaining high-quality and resilient code
- Strong understanding of engineering, product, and design interoperation and communication
- Experience architecting large scale, high volume, high availability services
- Experience monitoring and operating services in production
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- A high-trust approach to team building and cross-team collaboration
- Passion for great products and building great experiences
- Proven ability to take the product through all stages of development from concept to launch at scale
- Enjoy technical discussions and mentoring other engineers
- Experience developing SaaS applications in the cloud
- Experience with Elixir, Ecto, and Phoenix or similar backend stacks
- Experience with functional programming best practices/paradigms
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS systems
- Familiarity with Kafka or similar event-based systems
- Familiarity with with industry standards and secure-coding best practices
- Knowledge of microservice architecture, patterns, and common anti-patterns
- Experience in the payments industry or building payment applications would be a bonus
The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in Draper, UT. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in BILL’s bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.
