About the Finance Platform Strategies group:

The 3 key pillars of the group include:

  • Long term management of Finance initiatives through all stages of a project's lifecycle, starting from assessment of current business processes through formalized requirements and process enhancements, system implementations, and user training.

  • Strategic lens focusing on initiatives to extend Finance's planning, reporting, analytical modeling, and AI capabilities in an efficient, transparent, and effective manner.

  • Day-to-day tier one support for the applications used by Controllers, FP&A, Treasury, and Tax groups within Finance, and Dashboard/Reports consumers & stakeholders across the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a senior business leader to oversee and expand the footprint of our FPS team in India (across our locations in Gurgaon and Mumbai), and to lead elements of our technology platform efforts on a global basis.

Core responsibilities will include serving as the global lead for Finance data strategy, responsible for:

  • Sourcing: sourcing proprietary and shared data sources needed to deliver on the firm’s financial operating platform commitments, and deepen the level of analytics and insight provided to stakeholders across BlackRock

  • Housing: In coordination with the firms global EDP strategy implementing an enterprise data platform to house Finance’s data in a unified, well-structured, and well-permissioned framework

  • Delivery: ensuring data availability for the range of ways in which it will be consumed by internal and external users, including dashboarding, AI-driven self-service capabilities, and pipes into downstream Finance platforms

  • Talent: leading and managing a global team of Finance data experts and driving the long-term talent and resourcing plan for this area of FPS

  • Building an India process transformation center, partnering with our Finance Operations teams and Budapest-based Finance process automation leader to identify and execute upon opportunities to drive productivity and uplift work.

  • Driving our FP&A technology and platform strategy, partnering with FP&A leadership in India and globally to define the future state operating model for FP&A analytics insights.

  • Serving as a leader within Finance Platform Strategies, helping to drive our global platform and technology and team talent strategy and leading additional initiatives in partnership with other FPS teams and leaders.

This individual will report directly to the Global Head of Finance Platform Strategies, directly oversee our FPS team in India and drive a future resourcing strategy for this office, tied to the projection expansion of our capabilities there. The individual will also serve as one of the senior leaders within the ~150-person Finance & Strategy team in India, providing leadership, mentorship, coaching and guidance to our teams there, and serving as a member of the Finance & Strategy India Executive Committee.

This role requires understanding of how to deliver insights to inform business decision making and support effective and efficient ongoing business management.

Candidates should have a passion for technology, principles of sound process design, effective data management and data mining; experience developing and driving strategic Finance initiatives, process enhancements and automation gains.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Solidify actionable business requirements and support strategic projects to successful completion; deploy a wide range of financial applications, analytical and automation tools, and proprietary solutions.

  • Engage in “data strategy” and help to solidify Finance’s strategy, and best practices as we engage in the BlackRock’s EDP initiative for report dissemination and data governance.

  • Advocate, advance, and support best practice process and controls, covering the data and applications within our Finance ecosystem,

  • Understand corporate operating procedures, identify functional gaps, and work with Finance leadership to close such gaps,

  • Partner with Finance senior leadership in the region & FPS leads globally to help shape APAC Finance platform strategy.

  • Build consensus to influence regional leadership in support of critical business projects & priorities through presentation of clear business use case analysis.

  • Steer innovation culture & process automation efforts in the region in line with the global finance automation objectives & regional QBR objectives

  • Provide ongoing timely project communications, including status reports and issue escalations, in a concise and direct manner to keep key stakeholders informed.

  • Develop deep subject matter expertise and share gained skills and experience with colleagues to extend operating leverage.

Critical Skills:

  • Clear communicator, written and verbal, able to articulate and present strategic and tactical objectives including underlying business rationale with appropriate audience sensitivity (e.g., project team, firm wide functional partners, project stakeholders, senior management)

  • Exposure to Oracle SaaS platform

  • Oversight of day-to-day tier one support across Mumbai and Gurgaon for the applications used by Finance.

  • Experience with enterprise reporting and dashboarding tools such as Power BI, and with ETL tools such as Informatica

  • Exposure to machine learning tools & leveraging AI for advanced analytics.

  • Understanding of relational database concepts (including SQL) and OLAP technology
