Team Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our Production Engineering team within the Aladdin Engineering. This role is perfect for someone passionate about technical troubleshooting, optimizing system performance, and developing innovative automation solutions. Role Overview: As a Vault Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, scalability, and stability of our systems by automating tasks, optimizing resource utilization, and enhancing capacity planning for the Platform. Your role will include using Python and other automation tools to manage system performance, analyze resource utilization, and help scale infrastructure efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in projects to enhance resiliency and ensure availability and stability of systems, with a focus on BlackRock's Aladdin systems.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible for provisioning, managing, and scaling infrastructure, with an emphasis on HashiCorp Vault infrastructure and services both On-Prem and in the Cloud.
  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines applying DevOps principles for lifecycle management of clusters, including Vault clusters.
  • Use programming and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash to automate operational tasks, with a particular focus on automating tasks related to Vault.
  • Create, deploy, and manage configurations via GitOps Continuous Deployment frameworks, specifically for Vault Managed Hardware (MWH) and secrets management.
  • Participate in on-call schedules, monitoring health of clusters, nodes, and application servers, including Vault Clusters and Nodes.
  • Conduct analyses on infrastructure and cluster performance, and perform root cause diagnostics, particularly for Vault infrastructure.
  • Assist in the implementation of Production Operations changes, with a focus on changes affecting Vault.
  • Support planning of disaster recovery contingencies for applications, including those that utilize Vault for secret management.
  • Support batch workloads, real-time processing, data transfer services, application onboarding, and upgrades, with a focus on integrating Vault into these processes.
  • Enhance resiliency of environments using automation scripts, with a focus on scripts that interact with Vault.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for issues with accuracy or performance, and monitor container logs with tools like Splunk and Grafana, with an eye towards maintaining the health of Vault.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in System Engineering for Hashicorp Vault.
  • Strong expertise in Python coding for automation and performance analysis.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and other Configuration as Code technologies.
  • Experience with monitoring tools to track and optimize resource utilization.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Linux server environments.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
  • Prior experience in financial services or technology industries.
  • Experience in system scalability, load balancing, and high-availability environments.

Good to have:

  • Certification in Azure.
  • Certification in Hashicorp Vault

For Wilmington, DE Only the salary range for this position is USD$110,000.00 - USD$138,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
