BlackRock’s Fixed Income team manages more than $1 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, active long-only, alternative, and liability driven strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors one of the industry's broadest arrays of investment choices across model-based and fundamental investment styles.

Our Securitized Assets Portfolio Management Team is searching for a Junior Asset-Backed Securities Portfolio Manager and Trader based in New York City.

Your Team:

The Asset-Backed Securities Portfolio Management team manages client assets in Consumer, Commercial, and Esoteric asset-backed securities. We actively participate in primary market, secondary market, and private transactions to best serve our clients’ needs.

Your Role and Impact:

Your work will span trading, portfolio management, research, and client-oriented responsibilities to deliver value for our clients. You will contribute to all aspects of the ABS team’s investment process and collaborate closely with other members of the Securitized Assets team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Trade ABS bonds in the secondary market to carry out the team’s investment views

  • Build and maintain relationships with sell-side counterparts (sales, trading, bankers) on behalf of the ABS team

  • Support Senior PMs in evaluating public and private asset-backed transactions by modeling collateral cashflows, evaluating structures, and assessing relative value

  • Assist Senior PMs in managing transactional aspects of the end-to-end process of negotiating, structuring and closing asset-based finance transactions

  • Perform diligent reviews of transaction documents including deal-over-deal changes, cashflow waterfall, reps and warranties, and other key deal characteristics

  • Resolve requests related to analytics modeling, pricing, settlement, and other operational tasks related to the team’s investments

  • Contribute to consumer research and issuer/collateral surveillance

  • Create investment committee memos, client presentations, and other related materials

  • Use coding or other skills to improve investment processes and functions

  • Present updates on consumer credit and the ABS market to multi-sector PMs

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in fixed income markets (including research, trading, banking/syndicate, or portfolio management)

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong financial modeling, organizational, and communication skills

  • Experience with Intex

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in evaluating credit and/or trading in various ABS sectors including, but not limited to, autos, cards, student loans, and unsecured consumer

  • Progress toward the CFA designation

  • Experience with tools such as Bloomberg, dv01, Aladdin

  • Proficient in Python

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
