You'll be joining the development team, building next-generation analytics and data visualization solutions for alternative investments. Our platform serves portfolio managers, analysts, and investment professionals, providing real-time insights into fund performance, asset valuations, and risk metrics.
The backend system is a sophisticated .NET-based microservices architecture that processes complex financial data through our calculation engine, integrating with enterprise analytics platforms to deliver actionable investment intelligence.
Role Overview
As an Associate Software Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical backend services for the platform. You'll work within a collaborative agile team, taking ownership of features from concept through deployment, while growing your technical expertise in financial technology and distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Implementation (60%)
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core Web API (.NET 8.0)
Implement business logic within the system architecture
Build and optimize data access layers using Entity Framework Core with SQL Server and MongoDB
Develop microservices integration using gRPC protocol
Implement event-driven architecture components using Azure Service Bus and Rebus messaging framework
Create and maintain Docker containerization for services
Develop real-time communication features using Azure SignalR
Apply CQRS patterns using MediatR for command/query separation
Code Quality & Testing (25%)
Write comprehensive unit and integration tests using xUnit (target: >80% code coverage)
Conduct thorough code reviews for peers, ensuring adherence to coding standards
Debug and troubleshoot production issues with systematic root-cause analysis
Implement automated testing strategies and participate in continuous integration workflows
Ensure code maintainability and documentation standards are met
Collaboration & Communication (15%)
Participate actively in agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and senior engineers on feature design
Document technical specifications and API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger
Mentor junior developers and share knowledge through code reviews and pair programming
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Technical Skills
Core Technologies
2-4 years of professional software development experience
Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core/.NET 8.0 framework
Solid understanding of ASP.NET Core for building web APIs
Experience with RESTful API design and implementation
Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns
Understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrent operations
Data & Persistence
Hands-on experience with Entity Framework Core or similar ORM
Proficiency in SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures, query optimization)
Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred)
Understanding of database design, normalization, and indexing strategies
DevOps & Tools
Experience with Docker containerization
Proficiency with Git version control and branching strategies
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred)
Understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure
Experience with Postman or similar API testing tools
Architecture & Patterns
Understanding of microservices architecture principles
Knowledge of dependency injection and IoC containers (Autofac/Microsoft.DI)
Familiarity with CQRS and event-driven patterns
Understanding of authentication/authorization (JWT, OAuth)
Preferred Technical Skills
Experience with gRPC for inter-service communication
Knowledge of message broker systems (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
Familiarity with Azure services (Application Insights, Key Vault, SignalR)
Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI specifications
Understanding of clean architecture and domain-driven design
Knowledge of performance optimization and profiling tools
Experience with logging frameworks (Serilog preferred)
Familiarity with Redis for caching strategies
