About Institutional Client Business

The APAC Institutional Client Business team is responsible for understanding the financial needs of the largest Institutions across APAC and translating these into commercial opportunities for our business. The team works with a wide range of clients including sovereign wealth funds, insurers, banks, and pension funds, to offer the full range of BlackRock products including active funds, ETFs and alternatives products.

We partner with clients to build bespoke solutions that meet their specific needs backed by our market-leading in-house technology and risk analytics. The team is based across APAC in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Australia, South Korea and Japan, and works closely with colleagues around the globe to deliver the best of BlackRock to APAC Institutional investors.

Job Purpose/Background

BlackRock’s APAC Institutional business is seeking a curious, high‑performing Associate to join the ICB COO team. This is a broad and high‑visibility role combining business strategy, sales enablement, project execution, and regional business management, including executive support for the Deputy Head of APAC / Head of APAC ICB.

The successful candidate will help shape and execute our front‑line sales strategy, to ensure resources are focused on the highest‑value opportunities. They will analyze client and competitor information, synthesize insights, and translate findings into clear recommendations that inform senior decision‑making.

A critical part of the role includes managing and improving our CRM platform (Microsoft Dynamics), enabling sales productivity, data quality, and commercial rigor across the region. The role requires close partnership with sales teams, product groups, portfolio managers, operations, and global counterparts to drive consistency, scale, and operational excellence across APAC’s institutional distribution business.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Planning

  • Contribute to APAC institutional sales strategy and planning, ensuring focus on the largest commercial opportunities.

  • Conduct market sizing, opportunity assessment, and competitor analysis to inform regional execution plans.

  • Develop clear, structured materials to communicate strategic priorities to regional and global leadership.

  • Support growth initiatives with a strong emphasis on quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.

  • Partner with sales leaders to develop client‑level strategies, scope opportunities, and build robust account plans that drive commercial outcomes.

  • Benchmark and align processes with EMEA and US institutional teams; identify best practices and harmonize global platform priorities.

Executive & Business Management

  • Prepare executive‑ready materials, including presentations, briefing memos, talking points, and commentary for client engagements, conferences, internal communications, and board‑level forums.

  • Lead and enhance the management of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform—governing data quality, processes, reporting, and user adoption.

  • Support business management activities, including financial reporting, budgeting insights, and informing investment decisions.

  • Handle special projects and ad‑hoc requests across the APAC ICB COO spectrum of responsibilities.

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, drive automation, and create scalable frameworks across the sales and sales‑support ecosystem.

  • Proactively identify issues, risks, or inefficiencies; take early steps to mitigate or escalate.

  • Support all APAC offices and drive regional cohesion across a diverse institutional client landscape.

Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in financial services

  • Strong analytical capabilities, including comfort with data models and quantitative insights.

  • Advanced PowerPoint and business writing skills, with the ability to develop polished, executive‑quality presentations and memos at pace.

  • Knowledge of the APAC institutional asset management landscape, including major asset owners and core product offerings (mutual funds, ETFs, private markets, etc.).

  • Fluency in English with exceptional written and verbal communication skills; additional Asian languages a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment, anticipate risks, and maintain clarity under pressure.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills—able to communicate expectations, influence outcomes, and deliver projects with clear timelines and collaborative engagement.

  • High personal accountability, intellectual curiosity, and proactive ownership of tasks and deliverables.
